i should have taken a picture of it today when I was over there, it is hard to explain

but between the two of us we have had 7-8 stripped wheels

Correct, I understand that... Loctite melts plastic, thats why the wheel
nut sinks into the plastic wheel. The Loctite melts the plastic wheel. Loctite
warns people not to use it on or near plastic because it will melt plastic.

I've seen this hundreds of times, no pictures needed...

I hope I did a little better explaining it this time?

Matt appears to have his problem taken care of now by AE and with the
use of the aluminum Losi locking wheel nuts he will be in good shape from
now on...No more Loctite,no more loose wheel nuts,no more wheel problems.

Life should be good again...

So what about the aka wheel adapters and run buggy wheels.

F N CUDA 03-30-2010 08:35 PM

Sorry, but I has to post this again cuz I think it is a huge part of the problem.

Repost:

I've felt the pain of the AE SC10 wheel way back when the truck first came out.
I thought that holding the axle with pliers from the back side instead of letting the pin in the slot hold it while tightening the nut would keep the pin from tearing the slot.

I got the wheels tight but they still stripped?
I found that the nut bottoms out on the unthreaded shoulder of the axle before the wheel gets "pinched" tight by the nut.

I did this to a set of newly cut treads (hot ticket at the time, remember?) that had AKA foams in em and everything.
Tore em right up!

Oh yeh, they were Ryan Cavalieri's wheels and tires that he was cool enough to lend the "club guy" (me) to help get my truck settled down.
DOH! (yeh, felt like a noobe/goon rider) and I been doin this for over 20 years as well as wrenchin everything from motos to printing presses for even longer.

Just put a washer on before the nut, and the wheel gets pinched tight.
Done deal.

Oh, and fill the hollow areas around the pin slots with any type of epoxy or setscrews, this is old news.
You guys already knew this tho.

Funny thing is I didn't use any loctite the whole weekend. I instead used a whole bag of new wheel nuts. Brand new ish for amain race.

I think the aka adapter are just overpriced and the traxxas, kyosho, hpi ones are much cheaper.

I'm definitly moving to hexes.

I run the ball diff because that is what I am used to. I love it. I'm pretty sure that the top 4 of us in the a main all ran ball diffs, although halverson might have had a gear diff. Not sure on his setup. He's new to SC and still latex it down!! I was impressed! But i woulda had u halverson...only if my wheel didn't melt off. Haha.

Good race for the SC amain event.

Shane is just un human. That guy is in a whole other league. Good Job man!

And of course bill koch drove a clean main trying to chase down Shane "I'm too good" Good. :)

Can't wait for round 2!!

Do traxxas, kyosho, hpi make an adapter kit to run 8th scale buggy tires. If so what are the part numbers. Thanks in advance.

No I'm sorry I was talking about the wheel hexes for blitz, slash, or ofna rear axles.

The aka is the conversion to 1/8 scale wheels. I thInk they're like 17mm.

I have not given this any thought before but how about a sway bar kit for this sc10. Don't even look like it was made to allow sway bars front and rear. Anybody got some info here??

jewn_beef 03-31-2010 07:35 PM

i run welding rod for axles in my sc10 have not striped a wheel since started making my own pins that are longer to use the entinre length of the slot in the wheels
on ball diff. i have used it. like the turn better and mid corner power but all around like the gear diff. except have had two of them strip out on me

Rear T4 sway bar fits right up. I run one now.

Front sway bar I have not run and don't really think I would want to.

a few guys on RCSC have tried these and they are no good.

Just use the ones for the TC3/4/5

chopper 7 04-03-2010 12:44 AM

The Delrin adapters seemed to fit good with the slash wheels but they change the offset so the rear tires stick out too far and hit the body.
