For anyone interested in 12mm hex drive for the SC10, here's what worked for me:

Slash hexes ($2.00 a pair) slip nicely over your existing drive pins (I added a drop of CA to each pin just to fill the gaps and hold them on there).

Then I mounted up Blitz wheels, as they have a bit deeper backspace than Slash wheels so width isn't increased dramatically. Everything still fits under the body.

Cheap, easy, effective.

Hotwire setup SC10?

Anyone have any Tekin RS hotwire tips for the SC10?

I'm running the RS with a Novak Balistic 17.5 motor timeing set to "n" (whatever that means???), nice and cool with a 24/75 gear and 15 degrees boost.

I think I might jump to 18 degrees boost. The boost did give me a consistant edge on another similar SC10 of about 1 full car length on the straight.

The only time it was noticable is when we entered the straight side by side. You could see my truck pick up a hair of speed when his started to run out of gear. And the motor ran cooler after tweaking the hotwire setup, compared to the stock 17 degree advance (not boost).

hey homie try back the timing on the motor back one line and turning up the timing of the motor in the speed o then go up 1 deg in the boost.

also in cool what temps are we talking about

ok so now i got a ? 4600 mamba rtr truck stock sper what gearing would you run?

temp gun said 122-127. I could keep my finger on the motor as long as I wanted. Wasn't uncomfortable.

I'll try backing the timing down one line. Thanks.

I also unlocked the turbo (v200) on the Esc. Not sure if I'll run some or not, I'll wait till I get the truck back on the track for testing. If it tests fine with timing reduced 1 line, I might reset motor timing 2 lines retarded and run 10 boost timing and 10 turbo timing. A whole new world of tuning posiibilities with the new Esc's.

Here is my 17.5 setup in my sc10:
using the redline motor I have the motor at 5 degrees
15 in boost
full turbo with a .4 to .7 delay
geared 26/75

If you want to destroy everyone on the straight you definitely will like the turbo...:sneaky:

Thanks.

I'm testing in the street.
Just loaded:
15 on motor (lowest Novak Ballistic timing mark)
15 boost
full turbo .4s delay ( sounds like it would kick in early and cause some bogginess, but I have to feather the throttle onto the straight anyway.)
26/75 gear

ETA: I just found that the end of my timing sticker equals 5 degrees!
So I'm going to copy your setup for a baseline to test this weekend. Thanks for the help.

I'm surprized you didn't take your boost up higher? That deosn't add up to 30? To prevent bogging maybe?

With 198 30 degrees total was the standard baseline. Not so with 200. Maximum power is not produced with maximum timing: there is an optimum timing for whatever rpm you are at and 30 degrees produces its power in the upper rpm range. Most sc trucks are around quarter speed most of the track and more torque is produced with a little less timing.
As far as the delay goes, it will be VERY track dependent. My track has a sweeping turn onto the straight so I'm already up to speed for the most part. If you have a tight 180 before your straight a longer delay would probably be in order.

Hideous!

Looks like they use a floor buffer and wax on the "track", I wonder what a set of foams would do?:weird:
