What's the best direct-fit shock setup out there? Maybe I'm spoiled by the Tamiya TRF shocks on my on-road cars, but the SC10 stock shocks just aren't cutting it for me.

Obviously I know about the FT shocks, but wondering about options. Eighth scale? Traxxas big bores?

i'm glad you asked this question as i am wanting some better shocks as well, hopefully someone will shed some light on this! i thought the ft ones were a little steep at about 85 bucks for a set without springs.

Well the Sc10 shocks are identical to the T4.

So I think I remember seeing some T4's with Kyosho shocks on.

i run shocks from the losi AD2 truck. swaps right over and bolts on.

There arent any better than the losi shocks...IMO

Does Losi make a shock kit or do I have to piece them together? Part numbers?

Finally got my sc10 built, fit and finish is the best I've ever seen. I'm 15, so I'm on a tight budget, but for now I'm running a venom 17 turn, dynamite 4500, cheap losi 2.4 radio system and a traxxas xl-5 esc. Its one messed up combo, eventually gonna go to airtronics 2.4 radio system and servo, and a novak 17.5 b/l system. Anyways, running tonight I was running on grass with the messed electronics combo, and all stock setup accept preload and -1 degree camber on all fours, and I was up against a slash with a lipo and sidewinder system, and I held my own, even without having my sc10 dialed, gearing corrected, and timing adjusted. On top of that, the truck felt like it pulled into the corner. Never though that was possible. I held my own quite well, even though my setup lacked some punch off the corners, it still handled well in a low speed spot. Amazing truck 8.5/10. The only thing i dont like about it, is that one of my ball cups cracked when I put it on... Ca didn't hold in -5 C

Anyone recomend zippy flightmax lipos? there dirt cheap, and the look legit.

Hey everyone. I know I've seen a few people putting the Baja body on the SC10, so I thought I'd share how mine turned out for anyone who was interested. This is the short Baja body. The rear posts went straight up into the rear wing support, and the fronts marked where needed. The rear engine part of the body has been cut a little bit, but only to fit over the rear bumper support.

I should have put this in the previous quote. You can just see the Zippy Flightmax in the 2nd picture. I had to slightly dremel the battery compartment to fit the 12 awg wire coming from the side of the battery. Other than that, I'm very happy with the zippy batteries. As you said... cheap - but they also do the job well. I have the 20c 5000s and they are great.

Th Zippy 4000 mah 30c 2s1p hardcases keep me alongside $120 batteries with no problems, and they are alot more durable than my Maxamps (puffed) and Smc (puffed and split!!) batteries.

I did have to slot the chassis with a dremel and a sanding wheel in my B4, slash, Sc10 to give the wires clearance.

My Sc10 seems to not bottom out anywhere with stock pistons and 30/25 wt oil. Allmost like it was desighned for more weight. It seems reasonably plush and rolls very little.

In January my tracks rules change to stock 17.5, away from RTR spec. So I can run a sway bar.

Anyone have part #'s for some softer springs? Maybe Brown front/ Black rear like the lite setups for my B4?

So far this truck handles awesome. Needed to lengthen the rear camber links and use 30 degree caster blocks.

Tonight I'm trying the inline axles with the truck set to full short wheelbase. If I'm right, I don't think I'll need full lock steering anywhere on a tight indoor clay track.:sneaky:

Zerodefect 11-28-2009 08:18 PM

Ok the inline axles don't work too well indoors. tons of steering, some oversteer in the infield.

In the outside of the tack in sweepers and the straight the truck was way too hard to keep from spinning. These may be the hot ticket for dusty outdoor tracks but on any kind of highspeed track with grip they are too much.

Found some extra soft black springs:#ASC7426 and # ASC6481.
I'll try them with light oils, 30/25, and start with the stock pistons.

Hello...What are you guys gearing your 10.5 at? Just got a Ballistic & was wondering...the chart says like a 9.5 gear ratio. That would be like a 87s & 24p .. that sound about right?

RcRacing4Ever 11-28-2009 08:55 PM

Oyeah... ran those calibers tonight & those tires hook. I like :D

i ran 24/87 with my speedpassion 10.5 according to the sc10 manual, but the gears were too tight. running up the temps on everything. went to 23/84 instead and had much better gear mesh. it 1/100th different from 24/87 on the ratio, but i think the truck was much happier... :D
