Not the best solder job. Haven't quite got that part figured out.

Some more tweaks and it'll be ready for the track again!

The JConcepts body looks sick in yellow!

I bought a lightly used RTR for my son and I to play with. It's his first RC car.

I played with it out in the street a couple times before I showed it to him. It seems to hook up just fine on the pavement. It has lots of body roll but other than that it seems fine.

Yesterday I took him over to a school parking lot and let him try it out. I turned the ATV on the throttle down all the way and he's starting to get it. I set up some cones and told him I'd give him a dollar if he could knock them all down. That took about 5 minutes. He also managed to hit the curb head on about 6-8 times and I was glad I installed one of Looney's chassis braces before I let him drive it. He hasn't quite got the idea that you can let go of the throttle yet.

I took a turn in a dirt lot next to the parking lot. It was hard packed dirt with a loose dusty surface. I might as well have been driving on ice. I can see why everyone is recommending better tires and more rear toe. Once my son gets good driving on the pavement I'll do the toe mods and we'll start working on throttle management.

Thanks... I was looking for something bright. I guess it did the trick.

my truck now has 5oz of weight on it
30z near the servo and 2oz by the rear bat box.

don't know if anybody else has done this but on my b4 and t4 i've added weight in front of the tranny. there's a small gap there that you can put about an ounce of weight. going to do this on my sc10 this week when i pull the tranny to install a ball diff.
it keeps the weight out of sight plus helps hold it in place

JPMSRacing 11-09-2009 03:26 PM

I tried the weight thing, and it felt better, lots more forward traction, but my lap times where slower because I lost all my corner speed and the truck would not change direction fast enough to avoid the other non driving trucks, so I pulled it all back out and got my 2sec back that I lost a lap with the weight

Report

Bought rear spring kit, all hobby people had the 1 deg hub and went with 30wt rear and blue springs, rebuilt diff and kept slipper 6-7 turns, after tonights run I had a constant 23-24 sec lap time, before 26-27 so it worked. Truck does push a little but not bad. thx for the help see the OCRC guys Wed for racing

the rtr should have come out of the box with 19/87

My rtr came wit the 19t I went down to the 16t to get motor temps down. My local track is pretty tight and the 16 works well.

Any particular reason for switching?
