SC10 Thread
2 Attachment(s)
For everyone to post comments as they build their trucks.
I'll get started. First thing I did was thank the UPS Guy for safely delivering the box in one piece. Then I took a deep breath so not to damage anything in my frenzy to open the box. Took out the body, sat it next to my daughters Slash, and the dang Slash got the shakes. Everything looks to be packaged and labeled for easy step by step building. The Instruction pack includes the Die-Cut Decal Sheet, Manual, Catalog (with all the part numbers/exploded views/FT & Option Parts/electronics/fluids/ball diff option/you name it), and window mask. First step is the Steering Rack Build. Here are a few images. Now off to work, so I can post comments. To Be Continued....... |

keep posting the pics I am excited to see how it compares in size and such to the slash.
|
I posted my setup on the other SC10 thread.... and now it's up on the AE site.
Have fun! |

So the manual shows Factory Team parts?? Does that mean a FT version will be coming out as well?

What it means is that quite a few of the FT T4 parts fit. :)
I am curious why they didn't include some of the FT parts with the truck, such as shocks? It is a kit, so why not have the first kit be a SC10 FT edition? |

(#2) ~ I could be wrong, but I have never heard of a AE first-off being a FT kit. |

OK guys, enough chatting. Let's leave it for JDCrow's build. ;)

SC10 Build Continued.....
4 Attachment(s)
Okay. Finished building the Servo Saver, Steering Rack, and attaching the assembly to the Chassis.
A couple of highlights. The Servo Saver contains the Heavy Duty Servo Spring (#9657). I enjoyed the feature of the Ball ends being inserted with a Hex Driver. Very easy to correctly align perpendicular to the part. Plus should make geometry changes in hard to reach sectons very easy without the need for a major teardown. I had plenty of Factory Team Blue Option parts lying around, so I went ahead and used a Blue Servo Saver Bolt (#9610B) I had while I was building. The kit comes with the standard silver bolt #9610. The Steering Rack uses 4 Brass Bushings, but you can add ball bearings should you desire them. Bearings for this application are part # 3971. I included a picture of the SC10 Chassis Vs my T4 Chassis so you can see the difference in length. Now for a snack, then completing the Front Suspension and Shock tower Assembly. Pretty straight forward B4/T4 Stuff in these steps. Just body mount assembly and front Skid/Bumpers. To Be Continued........ Sorry for the pic quality, just taking stuff as I go with my iPhone |
What electronics are you planning on running? I am thinking of getting one, if I can, and want to know what you/others were planning on running.
|
:weird: no bearings for the steering :weird: you would think they would throw those in. it says it includes bearings....... thanks for the heads up

I just pooped a little...thanks for the build pics...

Bag B Assembly Complete
2 Attachment(s)
I have completed the Bag B Parts Assembly. Everything continues to go together well. No missing small parts. Even though I got a little nervous when I only had 2 of those potentially flying e-Clips in the bag. Not to worry, I always have a spare bag of them just in case.
The thing I really like so far is the Hex driver ball studs. The AE gang really scored with these. Especially once you get all the bumpers added. Maintenance and Setup changes are going to be a breeze. I went ahead and added the Factory Team Hinge Pin Brace and Ti-Turnbuckles. #9665 #1283 You may also want to have plenty of Ball Stud Washers so you can adjust the geometry, bumpsteer, ect as you build. Although some steps in the Manual call for a certain number of spacers (ball studs), this kit as well as the FT T4 I recently built, didnt contain some of them in the kit. Pics of the completed front assembly, and Nerf Bars added to the chassis. This carries you thru Step 8 of the build. Up next Bag C. The Gear Diff and Transmission assembly. To Be Continued........ |

The Transmission, Front Wheels, Rear Axle Carriers have Bearings in the Kit. |
JDCrow....are the arms on your SC10 the same as the T4 arms? Looking at the pic of the front end, they look like they might be the same?
|
where did you get it from...nobody has them in stock

Not much left to do
5 Attachment(s)
Well after this post, there is not much left to do.
Left to do: -Add Rear Hubs and Driveshafts -Build Shocks -Install and Fine Tune Electronics -Install the Battery retention strap -Assemble Tires/Wheels -Final Chassis Setup -Paint the body The assembly has been really smooth. No missing or damage fastners. Everything needed to complete a step is individually packaged. Guys who have an SC8, the SC10 mudflaps are exactly the same part. For guys about to build, if you have fumbly fingers you may want to make sure you have extra hardware (plain washers, screws, etc), because the parts included are the amount necessary to complete the task. When you get to the transmission assembly in Step 7, leave the rear bumper lower brace loose. You can snug it once your are ready to finish Step 9. Off to get something to eat. |

Do the instructions say anything about the yellow gear material?

Nice step-by-step tutorial and build run-through JD.
I got mine today finally, but it was a a weird situation. My wife had to sign for the package early this afternoon, but there was visible crushing to the box and she thought part of the shipment was lost so the UPS driver had her fill out a form. But after inspecting it when I got home from the office there was nothing missing (one complete SC10 kit) but the shipping box was strangely oversize for the single kit. About a half-hour after I got home the doorbell rang and it was the UPS driver holding a crushed SC10 box under one arm, with his clipboard in the other ~ "Here's what was missing out of the box, it must have fell out when they were loading my truck and got mixed in with the other packages. Hope I don't get blamed for this." I told him that I'd handle it, and took the package from the startled driver who shrugged and headed back down the driveway whistling as he went. On first inspection of the second kit the only thing wrong was the body was pretty mangled. :D I'm going to spend the evening stripping off the FT parts from my T4 and cleaning them for use on the SC10, and then start on my own build tomorrow after work. Build looks like pretty straight-forward T4 for the most part, so maybe I'll work on the paint first so it has an extra day to cure. |

Whoops! Forgot to ask what FT parts will work with the SC10. If you know/could tell.
So Far I got: Servo Saver Nut Titanium Turnbuckles Bearings for the steering rack(The same as the FT kit I imagine) Anything else? Shocks? |
