I have switched from tekin to a reventon r in my b4. My motor is an lrp x12 8.5t (I missed that lrp has the same temp wire issue that viper does the 1st few times I ran it:blush:). The tekin got very peaky when I added boost on the ESC, so I was running blinky on the ESC & max timing on the can. I gave the reventon similar settings as a base line for the first runs. The reventon is dramatically smoother than the tekin was. The ESC will comes off 60-70*c (140*-160*f) & the motor is consistently 110*-120* after a full pack (run to cut off). I am running the same gearing before & after (24/78). I am all ready as fast or faster than everyone else down the straight, so don't need any more speed or acceleration. What I'm looking for is efficiency (lower ESC temp, higher motor temp) & continued smoothness. If I back timing off the can & add it in the ESC will that accomplish what I'm looking for or should I change gearing 1st.

There is a few ways you could go about this to achieve what you're looking for. Gearing is going to be the first "easy" option.

Second would be changing the profile to stock1 and then running hybrid boost, this way you're not always "timed" and the bosst only comes in when it's "needed"

M question is, I have a hobbywing pro programming box, can i use that to change basic settings like brake force and locking out reverse on this esc or can it be done within the esc itself or do i have to buy a specific programmer?

I'm not 100% sure that the programmer will work. What I can say is, spend the extra couple bucks and get the reventon R. It comes with a programming box, and you have the ability to go to a lower turn motor when/if you feel.

Allright, having issues with my Reventon Pro ESC. Bought it new with a SP Comp 6.5. Ran with no issues for 4 weekends, then all of a sudden after I run 6-9 laps (19sec laps) the ESC thermaled while motor comes off at 125-130*. No changes were made between thr 3rd qualifier and main when it started. I went to practice today to try to figure it out, but no luck. Changed gearing & batteries, removed the timing, but nothing helped. It is box stock other than changing removing the timing. Any help?

That gearing is pretty high for an 8.5. Im running 81\22 and my esc never gets over 120. Motor gets about 125-130.

Anyone know if the BEC in the Reventon Stock Club esc is up to the task for a Savox 1258? I'm looking to pick one of these ESC's up use in 17.5 blinky in an SC10. Don't want any brownout issues since the Savox's are so power hungry.

I'm not running my 1258 with it, but considering the BEC is only 2a I would assume you will have to run a glitch buster regardless of the receiver.

For informational purposes, the brown out issues with the Savox servos is typically with spektrum dsm1 receivers &/or cc esc's.

I would just plan to use a capacitor on the rx and you shouldn't have any issues.

Your capacitor may be bad. Check that cuz it would def hurt the esc.

Will replace it, thanks. Does it need to be precisely the same or can I use a slihtly larger one that I have in my spares box?

My rev pro isdoing the samething and just shutting off completely. it shuts off in the air and sometimes sitting on the grid. off it goes. replace the cap and no go swapped recivers and nothing, new sensor wire no go. off to Sp for repairs.

Before you send it off try reinstalling the firmware.

jsmax 03-10-2013 05:26 PM

I put a different cap on it and installed the latest Mod2 firmware on it, will see how it does now.

dvsstrike 03-10-2013 07:07 PM

Firmware was reinstalled. new cap and no go all was tried before. This issue has been experienced before by other peopleas well. The speedo need to be repaired. The board may have a slight fracture in it causing it to shut off.
