The only reason you need the PC Link is for firmware upgrades. All the other features are available for tweaking using the ProGauge or EZ Link. If someone in the Minneapolis area needs a firmware upgrade, let me or one of the other local guys with a PC Link know and we should be able to help you out.

PC link would be needed for firmware updates. We are always looking/trying but really only ever update firmware if its an absolute improvement over what we are currently using.
Boost is a tricky thing, it takes some practice and detail to make sure it's really an advantage. Not really needed in most circumstances. If you do most of the time it's not much and the slew rate should be really low 2 most of the time. 3 if your careful. More will just add heat.
Throttle frequency can help fine tune throttle response. General lower would more torque/power feeling, higher is smoother, slightly more rpm feel.

weyant - congrats to you and your son -- great job guys!!!
tazal - Lee is 2nd overall in eBuggy and 7th in Nitro after 4 rounds. He won Round 2 outright, and finished 2nd in Round 3. He has the 2nd fastest overall race time. And we are still working on some speedo settings to get him completely comfortable - only 2nd time racing with the VTX8 and first with new VF8 2100!!!
Shout-out to the boys at the SC Nationals at RC Madness. From what I have gotten we have Mark Smyka and Paul Sinclair in the 2nd Mod A main, Mark is the 4wd A Main. Steve Charles was TQ for SCB, Jim Hustings was in the A as well to my knowledge. Sorry if I am missing anyone. Just putting pieces together from Facebook posts. Good Luck, glad no rain this year!!

Just wanted everyone to know that I will be out of the country on a family vacation the next week. Will try and pop on from time to time if I can (don't know what internet on my cruise will be like). But hopefully our drivers, friends and fans can help answer questions until I am back.

got the VTX8's in both vehicles. Just need some info prior to motor connection:
- Any wire length limitations I need to keep in mind? since the EB48 and SCT410s location is close to the ESC, I would want short connection to the motor, nothing guitar string insane mind you lol.

So, got a new VTX8 in an mp9e. Worked fine for days 1 and 2 practice and quals. Day 3, finals, esc boot tones are correct but running lights are wrong - only P is lit up. R flashes if I hold reverse. When I press to switch to program mode and connect a progauge, it does not power the progauge up. Basic ESC operation still works - forward/brake seems to be the same as what I last set it as...
Any ideas? Or is it warranty time?

So I have a viper vtx10r in my stadium truck, I recently got a 4wd buggy and switched the esc over to the new ride. I got everything installed and went to turn it on and there's no power, nothing. Acting like the battery isn't even plugged in. I've tried different batteries, new connectors, and re-soldering. And still nothing. The esc worked just fine before I removed it and put it in the new car. The switch wires have no nicks or any sign of stress. Does anyone have a clue what has happened??

8th scale races often follow the 'moto' style of qualifying. the field runs all their quals and then your mains are split in half. If your qualifying position is an even number, you are in the Even ladder. If odd, the Odd ladder.
if there are 8 'mains' then you would have:
1/2 Even
1/2 Odd
1/4 Even
1/4 Odd
1/16 Even
1/16 Odd
1/32 Even
1/32 Odd
The lower mains are 1/32. the top two from each bump up one. So if you have a bad qualifier and end up in the 1/32, then you have to finish 1st or 2nd in the 32nd, 16th, 4th (quarter) in order to reach the 1/2 (semi)
they take the top 6 from each Semi and then the last 2 positions are based off fastest time. Those 14 end up in the Final.

I have absolutely nothing. Everything is hooked up and soldered right. But no power. Nothing to the receiver or servo. I press the button and no power. I've had this system since January so I'm familiar with it. But this is something I can't understand. Is the switch bad?

Well im no Expert with the Viper systems yet but ifyour not getting any lights on the switch itself its a good possibility that the switch went bad. lets hope for your sake thats the issue and not a problem with the speedo..
