is it advisable to take apart the Viper VX4 5.1 motor to clean? i ask because my rubber boot keeps coming out of the can where the wires enter(im gonna silicone it in place). i assume its dirty in there from the tracks i run on.

thanks for any info.

twisted - I wouldn't worry about taking it apart -- but blow it out with a compressor or air can before you add the silicone. Just make sure keep the silicone on the outside.

Wildcat, Grasshopper and others -- you can run the VTX10R with a VST4.5XL - Travis has put the combo in many a Amain with all the pros running. But it is pushing the top end of the envelope. The VTX8 would run the 2 pole 4.5XL without breaking a sweat.

The bigger question is running 2 pole vs. 4 pole. Honestly, 4wd SC has been a catch up game for us from the beginning. 3 years ago, ROAR said 540 only, then they allowed 550. So we had to go make one of those. Now 4 pole - there are no official 4 pole rules, yet motors from other mfgs are "approved". So we waited for an official ruling, one has not come. So we made one to throw our hat in the ring. Surely, once we do good with it, some sort of rules will be published.

If your running on a bigger track, with larger jumps, you need 4 pole power. If the track is small or medium sized, flowing with rhythm jumps then the 2 pole can keep pace if geared and set up right.

Once the VF4's come out, all questions will be answered!! Sorry for the book, it just explains our position.

There is a sensor or connection issue somewhere. If the lights are showing the response, it should transmit that response as long as the motor is receiving the signal.

viper motors are generally very torquey, you may find your self a tooth taller then other with similar turn motors.
I have a 10.5 in my 22T, and a 17.5 in my 22SCT (blinky), very good product.
and you have a lot of very sharp and friendly Team Drivers on this thread.

Viper guys- Can we expect the BE VST motors this summer?

As Nick said, we aren't ready with the 10th scale motors yet. They are down the road some. I haven't heard any dates mentioned at all.
