Ok so is anyone running a VTX10R in 4wd sct? It seems like everyone runs 1/8 ESCs in these trucks but I'd rather not have to buy next electronics if I make the switch. Can I be competitive with a 10R and a VST XL motor?

For 4wd SCT you will want to run a 4-pole motor. You do not want to run a 4-pole motor w/ the vtx10r. For a bargain the copperhead is the way to go.

I think you would want one of the Copperhead VX4 / 550 combos they offer?

This week I just ordered the VTX10R / VST 7.5 combo for my SC10.2 and I can't wait to get it and try it out. I'm new to using Viper, but a lot of guys I know are running them and are extremely happy with them.

Anyone know if they are planning on any 1/8the scale motors?

Viper makes the VST XL series motors which are 550 and they claim designed for 4wd sct...the question is more if they will hold me back compared to the field, most of which will be running 1/8 motors and ESCs. I have the VTX10R already and would like to reuse if it isn't going to hold me back.

If I buy something I will buy a VTX8.

Yes 1/8 motors have been in testing for a while. They will be released when ready is what nikkos keeps posting.

the vrx10r will work in the sc10 4x4 or the durango. Not the tekno or scte. they are too heavy

I have a friend having a issue with his viper 8.5 combo. Unfortunately I'm not there with him but he says everything is fine but the motor won't run. The lights on the switch respond to trigger inputs but not the motor. They have tried a different sensor wire and motor, same issue. Any ideas?

try a different motor. try that motor on another esc

As I stated, they did try a different motor. Don't think they tried the motor on a different esc.

The video I posted on the last page was the 4.5 xl, plenty of power to win but we used the vtx8. I am not sure how the 10r handles them, i do have a customer that runs the 5.5xl with the 10r.
