Viper has the worst customer service I have ever seen. I ordered a new vtx8 and 4.5t xl motor got them both and neither one of them work from the factory. Been over a month and Im still waiting on my motor. I called them and they said I needed a backup system? So if you buy from them there telling you to buy 2 because one of them probably doesnt work. They SUCK.
***EDIT*** I see Nick already addressed this....
If anyone EVER has an issue, don't settle for not getting a response to this thread. Remember, we are racers too. We don't always see every post right away. But we do reply to all PM's and emails.

Hello, I just ordered a VTX10R BE for my DEX410V3. I will be running a Reedy Mach2 6.0 I am excited to try out the Viper. I have been using Tekin forever and decided to try something different.
PS - Mammoth Hobbies has a GREAT deal on the VTX10R-BE with Progage ($165)!!

Sooo... I am sure I know the answere, but has anyone ever tried a 4 pole with a vtx10r? even a lower kv 3800 ish motor? Because I hate myself, I am thinking about getting a sc10 4x4 and I have a vtx10r doing nothing atm. I am sure the official answere from viper is no, becasue it says 550 2 pole 4.5 limit on the site. would a 4 pole 3800 kv draw more power than a 550 4.5 2 pole?

I was lucky to get 7-8 mins outa my 5000mah. Maybe 6 mins outa my 4000mah packs. Im only going to use these packs in 2-pole motor applications.
Time to invest in some new batteries. Im going with trakpower batteries.
Since it's arrived there now to get replaced im only guessing
not to use a 4 pole motor in a 2wd. Because of the severe battery drainage.
When I get my replacement I'll probably save it as a backup for my SC10 4wd. Because I plan on getting the 550 4500kv copperhead system anyhow.
But the SC10 4wd is unique because you can get by with a 540 4-pole system it comes with a 32 pitch gear and 48 pitch spur in the box. You dont really need a 550 but I want more power anyhow and being able to run 32 pitch gears.
There's people here running the SC10 4wd with a 2-pole motor and I wouldnt do it without a fan on the esc. They have to be running a 48 pitch spur gear.
4 pole motors obviously drain more power than a 2-pole motor.

Testing before the SC Showdown last week I used 6400mah pack for 20 minutes!!!!!! Well I crashed a few times, maybe it was 17. In my SC10 4x4.

I have run both the sensored systems and Copperhead systems. Sensored is much smoother, better throttle control, easier to driver when you are trying not to spin the tires. Copperhead is little more abrupt, the power comes on fast and furious. One thing to point out about Copperhead is that our unique software design helps to control the "cogging" that some unsensored systems have, it has the feel of being almost sensored.
