If you accidentally put forward or reverse trim, and the esc reads endpoints differently from where you originally set them, the running lights will be wrong and it will not go into program mode.

Im sure Bob will back me up or correct me here but i personally would not recommend it. By removing the switch your removing the functionality of the EZ Link which plugs into the switch itself for setting adjustments.

Can you post a vid of what you are seeing as a problem? Sometimes that can help.

Cappy is correct. You don't want to bypass the switch.

If you have nothing and have tried different electronics with it, then you may need to RMA it. I can't give you a quote on turn around time, but we are usually pretty quick.

re-calibrate the radio. We see this from time to time where the radio / receiver lose their neutral. It's not noticeable until you do something that requires you to have absolute dead center neutral (like our system does).

Thanks, I'll give it a go, but I'm not convinced this is the problem though. I've seen my KO's drift on my various VTX10's and you can see which direction it's drifting as the F/N/R will still change. I occasionally run into this when i turn it off and have to jiggle the throttle trim back to neutral so it shuts down.

What I'm seeing on this VTX8 is no lights from F, N and S - in any mode, any throttle position. During the boot up sequence, I see P and R flashing, but not F. The tones play correctly. R blinks when I hold reverse, but when I let it go or press throttle N or F do not light up. When I press the button once as if I was going into program mode, R lights up solid, but F does not.

What is a safe cut-off temp for the VTSXL motors? I have it set to 180* on the VTX8 and its reading 165* external. Can I safely bump it to 200* and quit running at 180* external?

I posted in the VTX8 thread about mine, it looks my problem is similar upon inspection and testing. The switch will work at times, but not always.

I'm in Australia too, been using this since April, what do I need to do to send it in to be fixed?

Ok, I'm guessing this won't be warranty but I'd like to get it fixed.

Just go here for your RMA needs

http://www.viper-rc.com/contact.php

I can't promise turn around times as that would be determined by the guys working there and the issue at hand, but everyone I know that has sent anything in has always said that they have a quick turn around.

I won't tell you how to set it, but I don't use the ESC temp protection for the motor. We all temp the old fashioned way on the outside.

If you have the time to do a trial and error test, then that would be the best bet. I know I personally don't.

What I mean by a trial and error test is set the cutoff at 150, run til you hit cutoff and check the outside. Let it cool down, bump it up 10 degrees and repeat. You would continue the process until you have determined what is the best ESC (internal) number.

Not a hard process at all, just time consuming and for me it's easier to just monitor the old fashioned way

I do not think this is an esc problem but I could be wrong, it was my first weekend out with the vtx8. Ran great for practice and first 2 heats then....When I power up my car goes like half a runaway. The throttle keeps feathering and wheels are turned all the way left. I have rebound it several times & calibrated esc to radio.Sometime it works for a sequence or 2 then it does it again. If I where on frequencies you would swear someone was on my channel warming up a nitro. Is it a receiver or radio problem maybe. I have a M11x with standard fhss 3 reciever I use it in my other car with FHSS 2 and it seems all good. Once I had steering but no throttle the lights would sequence correct with trigger movement but no motor movement. Any Idea's.
