yes it's needed to change the settings and profiles. It's 20.00. That's a set of tires or couple drinks at the bar. suck it up buttercup :P
There is a USB interface that you can buy later. It's only NEEDED to update the firmware on the speedcontrol. The Black Editions all come with the latest firmware so you are covered there. Plan on getting it later

All the units come with the latest software, unless they have been shelved somewhere - most retailers are turning them over quickly.
A few questions back about the VTX1 - biggest difference/advantage, is the 1s capabilities, its similar to the VTX10 versions. Mark Smyka just one 2wd Class at the Fall Clash at RC Madness with a VTX1 in his Durango 210.
Thanks for the help Bob - becoming quite the expert there!!!!

Looking at the settings / gearing I think you are under-geared almost 15%
Your roll-out would be a 1.08"
Many of the AE drivers run 7.5 motors and run either 22/78 or 22/81, and on my B4 with a VST8.5 / VTX10R-BE I am running 23/81. My roll out is at 1.18"
I would suggest going up at least one tooth, turn down the brake freq to 2500 or 4000hz, and turn the motor back to stock timing. Set the end point at 80% on the throttle and start testing there. Again, set the motor and esc temp settings ESC 170 and motor 200.

I'm in the market for a new esc for my Losi Comp Crawler that I run on 3s lipo. I'm eyeballing the Viper VTX10R, given it's impressive internal bec, ability to run 3s lipo, and it's very small footprint. The question I have is, with the pc link does this esc have a forward/instant reverse profile that crawlers use?

hi Guy,s
i race (well my son does) the viper stuf from the moment they came out
my son wesley van helmond drove it to the national championship this year in 2wd mod
i race myself for over 20 years so its not that i,m a noob with this stuf
we have been very pleased with the performance of the esc and motors
we updated the firmware to the a55 and found it run much cooler so all wel here
now we had an weird thing with one of our vtx10 esc,s last race
at the run in lap it didnt had brakes anymore when you picked up throttel and then braked it just spin freely and rebooted
we did the transmitter esc pairing again but dint help
we tryed it in the pits and after 2 times the esc just stopped and never got it to work
no lights no beeps nothing
different motor lipo reciever nothing helped
now today we had the same with our second and last vtx10
dont understand it it worked flawlesly this whole year
i found some other people on the net with same problems now but no solutions
what should/can i do
thanks in advance

king dork - with the ProGauge you can set reverse mode (in Practice setting). Its brakes, then a slight delay, then reverse. And you can program how much power you get in reverse. Also with 3s applications, we really only recommend 10.5-25.5 motors, and even then, be careful to check temps often when first running to guarantee proper gearing.
jaydits - need more info, check your PM
silvalis - sure we will do all the regular kv ratings. I actually have a 1500kv, which is quite a mover with some boost added!!!!
