Heavy-because of the lower trans ratio - if you keep, gearing up it will add rpm and lower the "punch". It almost seems like your over geared.

What speed control are you using - Viper? PM me your settings. If you aren't clearing the jumps others are there could be lots of reasons, including motor and esc settings. Nothing slipping (diffs, slipper), tires, chassis not slapping on ground, piston/shock set up?

Btw- try turning motor timing down- maybe 15*, more punch.

Thinking it over, I had some issues during the winter racing indoors on carpet with the buggy going "soft" (soft like nicad's dumping) by my third qualifier and thought I'd cooked my LRP 9.5 (pack was fully charged) - I'm using the same battery & speedo, so maybe it's not even the motor. I'm going to try a different battery next week.

That being said, I had a few fast guys run my buggy, all said it handled amazingly well - not slipping etc. but that it lacked "oommff".

So it's one of the three things - battery, motor or speedo.

I hope it is the battery - I love the motor!

I'll report back again asap.

I think you can only get the vtx10r & vtx1 with a pro-gauge.

I just filled out the warranty form on the website and received my RMA# but I'm not sure if I need to send in my esc and motor or just the motor. Its the Copperhead VX4R.51 combo and last weekend the motor started squealing and lost power, when I lift it off the ground the wheels spin, when I set it down they do not. I'm assuming the magnet spun on the rotor or its cracked. Just not sure if I need to send both in since I bought them together.

I decided to give viper a new chance. All my units could not hold neutral...

they would but eventually loose. I reset everything and still eventually it would loose...now I should be grabbing my radio post and hopefully they work better with this radio...ill be dialing in my speedo the best I can with the proguage....

I never play with forward power or punch....Should have helped me a lot...lol

Guy- not finding neutral is a radio situation, if you really want to find out why, you can measure the PWM of your radio using the ProGauge- directions are on the forum on our website. Our system can understand more detail than some radios are able to transmit, every radio is different, even between same mfgs.

coaltrain- yes just send the motor with the RMA paperwork.

DubDeuce- what kind of promotional items you lookin for? PM with details.

I would just send the motor as the esc is not at fault.

yep (depending on how your radio works). Every model number in your radio sends out a little different amount of signal, some better than others. That signal controls the high and low endpoints of the channels range. If that signal doesn't stay constant or shifts, not your throttle points in this case are different, your neutral point is different. Every have a speed control (any brand) suddenly feel like the brakes were weak, then next battery or run its better -- same situation.

Another quick fix is moving your throttle trim a little. I have done it 2-3 click, some do it like 20. Re-calibrate and helps solve the issue - again, that signal is "moving" a bit.

We have some new software coming out soon, and we did try to address that some more on our end as well - but its always a moving target, so to speak.

I just want to thank Nick and the entire Viper crew for getting me a beautiful 17.5 motor & ESC. It's been in my X - 60 stadium truck for a few months now, and has more power than I can drive. Paul wired it up so it looks dialed, set it up in blinky mode, and nobody is faster on the straight.

People come to our pit to see what the cars are, and I love showing off my X - 60 with the Viper stuff in it! Got custom Viper decals on the side now from StickIt1 (Thanks to Brian Causee!) and very happy with the whole thing. Looks great, runs great.

Thank you!
