First thanks for helping me out guys! I have not really done much to the profile other than turn off dynamic and drag brake but I do have 95% brake and the wheels still aren't locking up so thats why I have it high. The timing is 0deg. on both accel. and top speed /brake freq. 6400/thr. freq. 6400/punch 30%/slew 15deg./SBEC 6.4/motor is at 15deg./ and geared 21/81 in a b4.1 no bind smooth as silk. Any ideas on what I could do to get temps down just a little on esc. with the settings? 160f on ESC and 150f motor 8.5 vst. Thanks!
I know I typically geared my D3.5 based motors 23 or 24 /81. The other guys at the track running Reedy, LRP, Orion.... everyone is in the 23/24 range. I haven't tried the Viper motors but I know my buddy Fred is running them in his Durangos and they share the same gear ratio....maybe you are over revving the motor?
Rule of thumb that was explained to me is:
speedo hot = under geared
motor hot = over geared
Obviously this isn't gospel, but it it could help. I would try 24/81... run it a few minutes of clean hard laps and see what the temp is. If it's not too high, run it a bit longer.
Oh one last thought, he did run cooler when he upgraded his firmware to the newest version.

Your roll-out would be a 1.08"
Many of the AE drivers run 7.5 motors and run either 22/78 or 22/81, and on my B4 with a VST8.5 / VTX10R-BE I am running 23/81. My roll out is at 1.18"
I would suggest going up at least one tooth, turn down the brake freq to 2500 or 4000hz, and turn the motor back to stock timing. Set the end point at 80% on the throttle and start testing there. Again, set the motor and esc temp settings ESC 170 and motor 200.

my esc just quit on me, im in the market for a replacement.
viper looks good and the price is apealing to me. I see the vxt10 at amain for 155.00 and the vxt1 for 167.00
1. is the vxt10 the older version of the vxt10r?
2. is there a big difference between the two? (10/10r) is the vxt10 outdated will I be sorry i got it?
3. maybe the vxt1 would be best for the price? (i race stock buggy may go mod in future)
any advice would be great, they all seem the same to me

Grab the black edition. You'll love it. Just get the standard, not the R (unless you are going to run it in 4wd too).

If you get another, you can get the 'lite' version, which doesn't come with the ProGauge. Since you have one, you really don't need a second.

oh and the VTX1 is the more know for being a beast of a 12th scale speed control from what I read. It can be used in offroad, but I think the one I linked previously is the proper choice over that for your application.
