next year when every speed control is like ours, you won't remember you had those comments!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, you do need to hold it down for 5 seconds. That's the way it has to work, because it has multiple functions. Everyone is resistant to change -- until it become normal.

Ryan - sounds like you have to push that button one more time!! - to me make sure the orange and red lights are on for the program mode.

Dave - that heat will do that -- I was talking to Travis last night and discussed that some of his motors might have been effected by the heat also. Its rough when you want to keep he motors cool at its 100º on the racing surface before you start. The orange VTX10 and VTX10R are best fits for a tight situation. VTX1 also, but its limited on 2s motor like the VTX10

guys i moved my esc inside the battery tray so now its sandwiched (quite tightly) between a piece of foam and the battery as it gives better handling performance . Do you reckon this will be ok? I'm running in 2wd blinky.

I used to run my RB5 with the vtx10 inline with the shorty in front and the esc against the back of the battery box.. I usually put the foam between the battery and the esc though as I guessed the battery might move and would be nice to have some padding.

Might be better with the esc at the front of the car though.

I have an rb5 to with a vtx10. I wanted to put my esc all the way down the very back of the battery tray but i can't because the battery hold down hits the wire going to the motor. any ideas? I really don't want to put the esc up front because it will be too hard to balance..

Hey Guys, sorry to change the direction of the discussion but I have a quick question.

Has anyone had any trouble using the Spektrum 6040 servo with the Copperhead esc?

Thanks

I would advise running a voltage protector. I. E. Cap.

One of the things I have noticed when trying to shut off the speed controller is that if the neutral LED isn't lit, it won't shut off. So if your trim is off a titch and the throttle is either slightly on or slightly braking or even flickering between neutral and not neutral, you won't be able to make the thing shut off. Just an observation of mine....

I probably try to turn my car off after my radio most of the time. I did have that kind of issue with my Airtronics and the a30 firmware, I could not even get it to calibrate because it didnt like my neutral. That went away with the a55 though.

Hi again, just checking, the physical size of both the vtx10 and vtx10r BE is the same as each other isn't it?

Mounting the esc in the battery tray seems to be the new off road trend. I can't speak completely for the RB6, but I know the AE guys are cutting down the battery hold down strap on the B4's to they don't hit. Guess you just have to decide if you want to commit and cut the piece or not?

Graveyard - not that we have been told, other than the standard Savox/Spektrum hiccup that seems to happen on most units. A capacitor can help from what I have read.

BDS- yea, if the system is running, it doesn't want to shut down, its something we have seen. I would be more concerned that the radio signal isn't holding neutral. If its just sitting there at neutral, it should stay there. Might want to check the profile on the radio (each one reacts with a slightly different neutral point or even re-bind the radio and receiver to make sure they have a good connection.

Maxx - I haven't been told the sale is going to stop -- we like it, you guys like it!!!

Dave - foot print is the same - 10R is taller

You need to cut the strap down. Put the battery in the car all the way forward and lay the strap on top. Make a little mark on the strap. Make sure you do it shorter than the plugs so you have access to your balance plug while the battery is still strapped in (but I would NEVER condone charging in your car and not properly in a lipo bag ). Also remember shorty pack . Then cut with a dremel. After you cut, use the sanding wheel to just smooth the edges. If you really are anal, you can run a dab of clue along the edges too

I had an old hold down in my box o parts that was from the std chassis. So my suggestion is that if you scrounge around the local shops or ask some racers who owned a reg B4, you can probably find the short carbon strap just sitting in someones part box. Offer them lunch at the track for it and it's a win win situation

Here's mine so you can see what I'm talking about. don't mind the squirrel's nest of wires. That's getting redone and the ESC is actually going to the back of the car.

Don't be afraid!!!!!! Try the performance!! If you want to be faster than everyone else you have to use something they are not, unless they have the VTX8, in which case, we can try and make yours faster!!!
