Hey Brandon did you see where the NorCal race is gonna be held? Can you beleive it will be in a parking lot and not last years track? Oh and guess who is running the race there? your red headed buddy from last year went to HT Fremont so the raffle is right out the window maybe they will throw some boards down for the off road part of the race.
Nor Cal did a pretty good job last year providing a nice facility, great traction, and John Hicks was great when "he" announced. I can't speak for Fred maybe there was some sort of deal to alternate or some other internal "deal" that went on. Who knows but hope to see you guys down here for regionals its gonna be a blast with F1 and Mini bring your short chassis cars

I'm having trouble getting Ashby to commit to going south three timeshe says he is only going to race the finals, and that is only if they don't conflict with the IIC race in Vegas. The old guy is kicking butt right now in 1/12 scale with his new Serpent S120.

Hey Fred,
Mickey and I were sitting here talking about this years TCS Schedule and rules and we have a few questions, comments and suggestions. Whats the reason for changing from Norcal Hobbies to Hobbytown it just seemed like a better idea to run at an actual groomed track vs. a parking lot, not that I am trying to be a pest we were just wondering. This is mereley a suggestion and idea - have you thought about running 5 min quals with the fastest lap deciding the mains and running 8 minutes in the A main for the F1 Class

The races are at the locations for a reason. While I cannot get into those reasons, just know that it has to be the way it is.

Hey guys, I've got a couple questions I haven't seen addressed with the new rules. Why isn't a TL01 allowed in the class that was formerly known as "TL01 Spec"? Does it have some sort of advantage over the TT01? The only reason I ask is that myself and quite a few others have TL01's for their next generation drivers and suddenly don't have a class for them (besides GT3/GT1 which aren't really for newbes). Also, why is there the IFS Chassis/Body clause in GT2? I would be more than willing to get the IFS stuff for my TA05 if needed, but I don't see where the IFS bodies would be an advantage/disadvantage over any of the other bodies available - so I'm just courious as to the reasoning behind it.

Re: GT2
Also, we are not trying to force people to buy things to run our series. We are trying to design our rules around what the market is making popular so that people can buy motors, escs, and batteries for our series and are able to race the same stuff in other series as well.
We wanted to make a unique GT class instead of jsut another GT class with a different motor. A LOT of people are racing the IFS style cars now, so we wanted to try a class for just that chassis to give it a unique look and feel. That is also why we went to 8-min A Mains.

The TL01 is a discontinued kit, and much harder to tech. If we want to check the gearing on a TT-01, we can pop of the gear case, but on a TL-01 we have to crack the whole chassis in half! Makes tech easier for us, and faster for everyone.
With the new TT-01E out, and parts for the TL01 becoming less and less, it made the most sense for us to make the spec playing field even more even.

very easy to make a TL01 'faster' than a TT01, and yes not within the rules. and if u have hard pipe track barriers, the TL has yet another advantage in that its a tank. i agree it stinks for kids, but again that chassis had a long healthy life

I'm happy tamiya took the TL-01 out of spec class. I watched first hand someone cheat with a TL-01(speed tuned gear set)...and blow everyone away. He got caught, but he was a veteran driver and still won. My brother (11 at the time) did well and got 3rd with his TT-01. It looks like tamiya addressed the front uprights and the shock towers breaking with the TT-01E, so I will be making my TT-01R a TT-01RE for GT-3(you race a TT-01 in GT-3 when your funds are limited and most of the funds go to a stadium truck)
