I run mine 25/75 in blinky mode 125f degres 2nd timing knotch . On a large 1/8th track. And I could use more gear . I'd start at 26/75 . and watch temps .

Did a search, but I can't find any definitive information on changing the wheelbase. From what I gather is is accomplished with inserting washers behind or in front of the rear hubs? What would be considered medium wheelbase?

Yes. Equal size washers on both side of the hub. That's how I'm running mine.

Try 20t and adjust from there.

Ok thanks.

The woman at Tower when I ordered it said the kit required a 24t so I bought one with the kit. Now that I look it up on their site that pinion was recommended but not for a brushless motor but for a older brushed motor.

Another gearing question!

I have recently decided to put some cash into my SC10 I am really a nitro guy but I like the 17.5 class. Anyway I converted my SC10 into a FT except ball diff but I did get alum. 0 hubs and got a Speed Passion SCT Master and a Comp. v3 Speed P. 17.5 along with a set of M2C tapered pistons. I have been running great with my setup won last race and leading points but I have been running 28/75 gears because we have a jump that you really need the gear for and competition running Tekin/LRP with more timing so they are fast with a little smaller pinion. I have been at 150-155 after 10min main with full timing that I can apply 10 motor 26.5 esc so 36.5 total. Is this to hot and what should I do to get the most out of this setup? I wish I had went ahead and got a higher amp esc with more options but didn't realize how much you need to push the motors in 17.5 to be competitve. Thanks for any advice!

Any gearing advice for an 8.5 on both a large indoor clay track and a large dirt outside track?

Thanks,

Thanks,

I asked for gearing on a 9.5 with a medium sized track and was told to start with a 20. So I would guess for you around a 17-20t pinion.

The 8.5 is a faster motor, so you want to go lower on the pinion count, not higher. 22 - 24 is what I run on a 10.5

8.5t? ON my tekin in dual mode ran 88/21 or 87/20

You should have a few pinions so you can adjust. A-main has a good deal on a set of pinions for like $5.

Only $3.69 for a set of five electrix brand pinions.

rc10t3b4 04-08-2012 06:44 PM

The only pinions I use are losi. I have some that are over 10years old and still going strong.

bds81175 04-08-2012 06:50 PM

My favorites are still my Losi's too. Their cars are the enemy but we can always use their pinion gears and beat them with them. :sneaky:
