The sidewinder setups will be faster than the Reedy RTR setup but the Reedy should be plenty fast, "for now", as the saying goes.

You could buy the RTR and sell your roller for batteries and a charger.

shizcol 07-05-2011 11:21 AM

yeah i only paid 50.00 for my roller tho. could i run the rtr on 3s? i have been told by some people that the rtr combo has given them problems, esc problems mostly.

3s in a 2wd truck is usually overkill. Lack of grip will ruin your fun in one way and parts breakage if/once you get going way too fast in another.

Actually i just ordered a set of the 0 deg FT aluminum hubs. I felt sorry for my SC10 since both my B4.1 and SCTE has aluminum hubs. Make sure you buy the larger outer bearing and crush tube when you convert though.

im running the sidewinder sv2 4600 on a smc 7.4 50c 5000mah in my sc10 and its geared at 18/87 can anyone tell me what i should run for gearing.. i ran for about 10 minutes doing high speed runs and the motor and speed control are about the same temp.. i havent checked it with a temo gun but it isnt extremely hott.. i held it for over 15 secs and it wasnt too hott to touch it.. im new to brushless so i dunno what the temps should be at.. can anyone help? i seen something on here about the gearing and i cant find it.. someone posted something about what u need to do if the motor or esc gets too hott i would like to find that

Not familiar w/ that motor, but the closest thing I found is the CMS 36-4600? According to this, you should be geared between 87/13 or 87/14

http://www.rcgearhead.com/Gearing/Browse

Ideally your temp after 8 mins should be around 150 on the motor. Go with a smaller pinion if you're temping too high (or larger spur, but you have a pretty large spur as it is).

dude u are the man.. i have trouble finding stuff like that but im new to the whole electric thing.. thanks a bunch.. is there a place to find where they tell u what to do if ur motor or esc are too hott? i saw this thing where it told u to gear up or down on pinion and spur if motor or esc got too hott..for ex..
engine to hott, gear up or down on pinion
esc to hott gear up or down on spur

something like that

yeah i have a smaller spur but my pinion is too small to work with it

Asharus 07-07-2011 08:45 AM

Hmm I haven't seen a site like that. Maybe you're talking about this huge RC guide?

http://users.telenet.be/elvo/

But it's pretty much go with a smaller pinion or a larger spur if you want to lower motor temps

JC wheel offset

Any of you racers using the JConcepts 12mm hex, what is the offset of the JC wheels and can you use other wheels and maintain the proper offset?
Thanks and God Bless

losiracer753 07-07-2011 10:40 AM

would a ball diff be better in the dirt? I am thinking of just buying one up at the track I will be racing at and running that on the dirt instead of tearing up and messing with the 500,000wt diff oil?

I do, but I've never used anything but the 12mm hex JC rulux wheels. I know they say that you can't use the slash ones because it's the wrong offset. You can use any wheel that fits the SC10 4x4.

You can't go wrong with a ball diff. Easier to dial in, but will require more maintenance. So far my diffs have been solid and haven't had to rebuild them yet. They probably have anywhere between 10-15 race days in them.

I run 1 degree aluminum hub carriers. As mentioned, it takes the larger GT2 outer bearings and a different crush tube.
