I wasn't using my good tools when working on my truck, just some old ones, thus needing the new set. I think I may need to purchase some new cheapies at Harbor Freight. The Associated set and the Tony's are about the same price so if I can get the Tony's in black then I'll go that route.

Help

I am running a FT SC10 and planning on running in a 17.5 motor class. I just purchase a Tekin RS 17.5 package and need some gearing a Esc setting help. I am new to this truck as well as electric. I understand that this class uses Esc that boost the motor to make the truck faster. Anyone familiar with the RS have any tuning / programming setups that will make me achieve the most or fastest truck I can have in this class?
I plan to run the gearing what the SC10 manuel suggests.

Thank you

The Sc10 Manuel's gear suggestions are for non boosted ESC....

Try the Tekin thread for your best advise with that ESC...

Slash to SC10

I'm thinking of buying a FTSC10 kit but, since I have a Slash already I have a couple of questions:

1. I know the SC10 comes with a ball diff but it needs constant upkeep/adjustments, at least according to my fellow racers that have one. Has anybody converted to the gear diff set-up fot the SC10? What are the pro/cons for doing so? I know I would have to buy a different trans case to use the gear diff, thats no big deal. Looking for performance/reliability issues.

2. Since I have wheels and tires for a Slash already (Proline,Jconcepts etc..), does anybody know of a conversion to use these on the SC10?

Thanks for your comments, suggestions, advise. Gary:)

TryTown

gear diff great for bashing

ball diff use for racing

you can use a hobby knife and trim the tires from the rims

FTSC10 comes with a ball diff

1. The ball diff isn't that bad of a maintnance item. I think some guys just like tinkering with their toys and can't leave them alone. I have a B-Fast Ball diff in my rear and haven't really touched it in a month with racing twice a week. Also, if you wanted to, you can buy a gear diff and run it in the FT truck. I used to do it before I did the B-Fast. The trans case is the same.

2. I believe the slash uses 12mm hex's on the rear and there are plenty of 12mm hex conversions for the SC10.

Anyone here use the HB Beams pink? If so what insert did you use? This is for a clay track that has good grip but sometimes the rearend gets loose. So I'm thinking of a softer insert, but which one? TIA

I ran the beam until they wore out. I used an open cell foam insert on a firm clay mixed surface with dust. I think the softer insert helped a lot.

I switched the a Gold compound Bar Code and they are similar in forward bite but better than beams for side bite. I have been able to tune the suspension to get better side bite without loosing forward bite.

The HB Beams are great tires new and last a while but not a whole season.

I am running 24/81 with 40 degrees timing and temps at about 150 in a cold track with my Kinetic/Ballistic 1300+ 17.5 system. I would not recommend 27/75 unless you do not plan to use much timing. Always check your temps as and start with smaller pinions and work you way up. If you start with 22/75 you can add timing until you reach your boggy temp (160*).

Thank you for the fast reply. Do you remember the name of the inserts that you used.

When assembling the CVAs for the FT kit are you guys using the set screw and the retainer ring, just the set screw, or just the retainer ring? I built mine with both and didn't notice any binding, but I haven't run them under load yet. Just trying to ensure that they don't fail when i do run them.

Use both.
The ring can shift and loose the pin.

I just used the retainer rings. No problems as of yet!

When building my kit, I saw the set screws but the directions didn't show them being used. I was abit confused!
