Just got my new KO Helios with spektrum pro. System without frewquencies really rocks, i can get more practice time because there is no need to change crystals.

I just do not understend why fast guys do not use spektrum?
For instance, Here we can see that no one in Italy uses it. What is the reaso for that? SO far i have not find any advantages for standart system over spektrum

It's very simply: The latency.
If e.g. your car looses traction the correction (steering / throttle) for it comes with a Spektrum later. I talked about this with some top drivers and they all tested Spektrum and didn't want to use it just for this reason. And I must say I had until now more 'glitches' with my Spektrum than I ever had with my Futaba 3PK - PCM stuff.

IMHO this is VERY OLD and outdated information. Your talking about something that was occuring 2 years ago.

you mentioned "you" had glitches ? what did you find as the cause for these.

please be careful when passing on information.....

I'm NOT passing on info. It's my opinion and I quote drivers. The fact that I use the Spektrum is just because of the ease. And if you dont wanna follow my conclusion on latency please explain then to me that non of the top drivers use a Spektrum?
And your second remark about the causes. I've found some:
  1. Mobile phones.
  2. Other Spektrums switched on and off.
  3. Other fuel RC-cars (1/5)
  4. and last and most frustating one ...... unknown.
Sorry to be 'negative' but I keep using the Spektrum. Makes live more easy

sorry but this is OLD information from 2 years ago. I will not rehash here - anyone interested can read the early thread.

your glitches - ?? - yours must be an quite old version.
1. Mobile phones do not interfere with it - Or - you forgot Wireless devices
2. Other Spektrum...... interesting though
3. Other Fuel Cars ? also interesting
4. Unknown ?? very insightful

I too am sorry your having issues. You should consider getting your transmitter module and tranceiver upgrade to the latest software. If you do not know how to get this done check the spektrum site or please PM me and I'd be happy to assist.

You also forgot that pro drivers get "paid" to use certain equipment. If they signed with futaba or airtronics, they wouldn't use the spektrum stuff (against contract). I'm sure if airtronics or futaba work on their own dsm type systems it will be the best ever according to their factory drivers....basically I'm saying "wake up". I purchased the dx2 system and couldn't be happier. Send yourstuff in for the upgrades...caution though, you won't have anything to whine about.--Al

Thanks for the info.I will send it in and probably pay to get my aerial fixed.

I also experience high latency with my spektrum, its like its processing it really slow, anyways, hopefully this upgardade fixes it

contact email for horizon anyone?

I am using SR3000 on KO ex-10, Fut9550 and Air94357 servo powered by 800mah AAA pack (5cells).
my runtime is quite low, arround 1 hours max before failsafe engage. but whenI put the battery into charger, the voltage is still good and it peak in short time.
I try use it with my 1000mah Sanyo pack, same situation occur, is it my RX has issue?

I will. But after the season, because I fear that my 3 receivers & transmitter module are gone for weeks of even months. Or am I wrong in this?
I'm to addicted to the ease of use

Jon, great to hear. I've been wondering about how you liked it ever since you said you were trying it again. Good to hear.

JanisK, one thing to remember is that some drivers have contracts that state they must use all one type of radio equipment, including modules and receivers. You also have some drivers that DO use the equipment yet do not declare it! For example, the winner of the ROAR 1/10th Sedan On-Road Nats used Spektrum equipment. He never listed it anywhere...in fact he even listed a regular frequency on his on his sign up sheet and showed as much on the mains lineup sheet. I've also talked to a former IFMAR Champ about this down at Snowbirds. He mentioned to me that the person he gets his radio equipment through said not to use it because of the lag. Nothing from first hand experience. One of his Team Mates then made a great point to him which really got him thinking about giving it a shot: The latency in the Pro system now, today, is much much less than what his radio had that he used when he won his last WC. It was an interesting point. Sure I'd like to see more Pro's use Spektrum, but it will come. Spektrum users have won in classes at National events all over the country. Just off the top of my head, Spektrum users have won at the IIC in Vegas, The Tamiya Nats, Roar Fuel Nats, RC Pro Series Regional and National events, Roar regionals, Euro's, and more. And not to name drop, but just to name several top drivers who DO use Spektrum equipment, there's Frank Calahandra, Steve Slayden, Travis Amezcua, EJ Evans, Sonny Brown, and of course now the INfamous (which means very famous- 3 Amigos) Jon Kerr

In the great scheme of things, I wouldn't worry about who is and is not using it. I know I don't. I just turn on my radio and run...

Nope, Sonny's going though. My next big race is either going to be the ROAR Mod Off Road Nats in Indy or the Tamiya NA Finals at TA.

Oh, and I never said you were a top driver, just that you were now using Spektrum

OK here is a question hopefully someone here can anwser.

On Monday I was at the track testing (12t Modified), when all of a sudden I seemed to loose all control coming into a corner at full speed, I hit the breaks as soon as I realised something was wrong, but I was about 2-3m out from a gutter on the side of the track and traveling at full speed it doesn't take long to cover that distance, so I can't really remember if the brakes actually did anything before I slammed into the gutter.
Intially I thought I had lost signal, causing a run away, and in the short time before it hit the gutter there wasn't enough time for the failsafe to kick in, let alone stop the car in 2-3m.
When I went and picked up my car, I noticed that the servo horn had snapped, along with alot of other things So then I thought that maybe the other possibility was that somehow the servo horn just snapped during my run, right before the corner I was coming to, causing me to have no steering into the corner and just go straight into the gutter.
I am not sure which one of those 2 possibilities caused the problem, and there is really no way to know.
If it was the servo horn, then thats ok, it was just a freak accident. If it was the Spektrum loosing signal, then I am worried that it could happen again.

I am running a 4700uf 16v cap plugged into the receiver to give my servo enough power, and I am thinking that this might have had something to do with the crash.

What I want to know is:
Is it possible that the cap became drained, and power to the receiver was diverted for a few seconds to the cap instead for it to charge up, causing the receiver to shut down for a few seconds, loosing signal, then come back on a few seconds later when the capacitor is charged again?
Or could there be any other explanation to why Spektrum would loose signal?

My equipment:
Futaba 3pk
Standard Spektrum system
KO 2343
Tekin G-11pro
4700uf 16v capacitor

Cheers
