Gday all,

Quick question.

Has anyone experienced a Reventon Pro cutting out i.e. turning off landing jumps??

I tried a new Sensor wire, checked connection and solder, with no success.

Im going to resolder the terminals check the capacitor, pull the lower housing off and give it a good clean.

Has anyone else experienced this and found a solution.

I had it occur once per race, usually from jumping.

Thanks

I had one do that right out of the box and had my buddy swap it out for another. I did have this happen to me with my RS Pro but it was because of not running a glitch buster which would cause brown outs, so I'd check that before deeming the ESC itself. I thought it was my RS Pro but it turns out it was my radio not being able to handle the power draw from my savox servos. I've since switched to an MT-4 and it has never again occurred.

Thats a valid point I havent run a glitch buster since I went from Spectrum recievers to Orange Rx ones but it would be worth a shot.

I do have 2 fans running off the fan port which I assume get its power from the Bec. I am also running a Savox 1258.

I will give all these ideas a try and see how it goes next race meet.

sorry to poke you guys, just curious if anyone has any ideas on my issues? It all started with the latest version of the PC software V1.1025...I've noticed It seems difficult to go back to the old software....when I tried running the previous version the ESC and CPU don't talk.

13Maschine,

Check your solder points both on top and underneath the board on the ESC and look specifically to see if any points run into one another. IF not, I fear your ESC is the culprit. I had one of the 3 I bought do this out of the box and it baffled me for an hour. I could adjust the end points just fine but when I'd press the throttle got nothing. Then I dropped the car on the floor and my finger was on the throttle and it took off. I braked and tried again and it did nothing but the lights indicated it was receiving the proper signals the entire time.

I then grabbed the car by the shock tower and held the throttle and nothing until I slapped the car against my knee and it instantly kicked in. THinking I'd done something wrong on that one I unsoldered and desoldered the wires but again, same deal. Turns out there was something wrong with the ESC, simple as that. Got a replacement the next day and it was immediately perfect.

Another thing to consider is whether the motor is a Viper because those motors have an issue that requires eliminating one of the wires on the sensor harness to remedy the issue, although you said the motor works fine with a different RevPro.

I'd suggest opening up the ESC's bottom cover to see if you notice anything out of order and if not, contact Speed Passion (hopefully it's still under warranty) to see what, if anything can be done.

I'm only using speed passion motors...so it shouldn't be the viper issue I've heard about.

One thing I've noticed in messing around with trying to get it working again (btw, this started after upgrading the firmware to the stock with hybrid boost) is that I can only talk to this ESC with the latest software. I wanted to try and go back to the firmware I had before with the Reventon Windows software but when I use the 1.1024 version it doesn't even see the ESC.

I've been baffled for a few days actually. I haven't had a chance to solder up a new set of wires yet...I'll take it apart and look around and solder up a new set as well.

If not I'm probably buying a spare ESC while I try to have this repaired.

Been searching the tread and didn't see an answer so I will ask what is probably a dumb question. Is it worth upgrading the capacitor on the Reventon Pro? I think the one that comes with it is 2200uf but the upgrade cap on the speed passion site is 4x 471uf caps in parallel making just short of 1900uf. Am I missing something or is the stock cap that comes with the pro better than the upgrade option? Like I said, probably a dumb question.

@SlowGuy: Not a dumb question! I've run both capacitor types with my Reventon Pro as it came with the larger capacitor originally. I switch the 4x type because it made it easier to find a place to mount the capacitor. Performance wise I haven't noticed any difference. I hope that helps!

Hello everyone. I need help. I messed up my esc. I think the firmware or program in the esc was erased. The usb led and computer prog is updated/latest. I just bought the esc last week. Everything was very good until im about to try different settings on the computer.
At first the esc and cpu had connection.. it can read all the settings i have. When im sending the new profile to the esc, the computer hanged.. i restarted everything and then it happened. The cpu program cannot read the esc anymore. It just says, cannot read image file ...

How can i reset or use defalt settings or put a new firmware in the esc? I only have the led programbox. Thanks for all the help i will get.

Reboot your computer and start from scratch. Maybe even try a different USB port then do the process using Safe Mode.

Open Reventon PC interface, Press "S" button (keyboard). The right top corner will show "Safe mode". Connect ESC to LCD card. Pressing the LCD card "Value" button and then connect LCD card to PC. The LCD card will display "CONNECTING PC". Release "Item button". Click "Update firmware" to flash ESC
