Viper RC -
Drec -- as mentioned a few days ago -- if you have an issue with the unit, please send it in and let us take a look at it. What happen to it? Can't tell you until we get it. No one on the forum would be able to tell you for sure what happen unless they worked in our office and looked at the unit when it was sent in.
I would love to tell you and everyone that the products will never, ever fail. Reality is that it can happen. Was it a part out of spec?, Was it not assembled correctly? Was it plugged in backwards? Did it run too hot? Did a motor short go back into the esc? There is no definitive answer. Until its look at.
Will it ever happen again -- certainly hope not. We are lucky (knocking on fake wood desk) we have a pretty low return rate. So if its no working, if it meets the warranty criteria, please send it back and we will go through it.

Just saw yhosd Savox 3 pole motors. Was wondering if they would work with a vtx8 and if so what setting would you use? Since its a 540 3 yes 3 pole motor not a 2 or 4. Just for curiosity in sc10 4x4 for a mild

No quite sure what Savox is trying to describe. The motors they are talking about are 2 pole motors - with 3 wire stacks in them. Like other 2 pole motors. The 2, 4 or 6 poles is determined by the magnet poles on the rotor.

Nick on the Expert servos can you tell me which ones are suggested to use for 1/8 cars if steering and throttle? I am looking to place an order to replace my savox servo and other goodies from viper.
High Voltage - 6v to 8.4
SM series is all aluminum case - SN series is aluminum center core
5501-HV
5401-HV
Low Voltage - up to 6.6v
4501
4401
SI-4431 - aluminum center cover -- most economical choice
Motor Temp cut off -- most typical problem (set too low)
Gearing (what turn motor?, car?, boost/blinky?)
Physical timing on the motor?
Any error lights when shut off?
Did you try to run it again to see if it happen again?
Something is up if it only ran 2-3 minutes, just need to see what lead to the situation and what was the cause.
What are the symptoms of a bad switch? I am having an issue with my VTX10R shutting down. It seems to happen when jumping and I can reproduce it on demand by dropping the car 3-4 feet. On impact (Chassis not hitting the ground) the ESC shuts down completely, no lights, servo is off, receiver and transponder are off. Sometimes it will reset itself and come back up (you can hear the chimes and see the lights) but sometimes it will not power back on until I press the power button. I have tried new servo, new motor (both a Reedy 8.5 and a VST 8.5) new receiver, multiple battery packs and even tried a glitch buster even though I am running Futaba, also multiple sensor wires (SMC and viper). ESC is mounted to chassis of SC10 with 2 layers of Parma Servo tape. All joints look good and were recently reflowed and battery bullets are solid and making good connection. I have an RMA open but am trying to locate my receipt. Hoping viper can help out here as they make a great product and always support the racing community.

Switch is a push button, requires a push to activate (on or off). If it lands and powers off - I would think connection somewhere - what ever plugs or bullets being used for battery connection. Its only programmed to shut down and power and back up as a low voltage cut off (in a30, a55 and 61 software - new a64 is different). It could recycle if it lost signal from radio - but the red power light on the VPort would stay on, even though the others went out. If its easy to duplicate, it would be interesting to know, if you just have the esc on by itself, not plugged into the receiver or motor and dropped it, if the same thing would happen. Might be a stretch, but check our wiring to make sure nothing is cut or exposed that it touch the chassis and short out.

So my VF8 casing split this weekend. I submitted an RMA earlier in this week, just been chaotic here and I haven't shipped it yet. I talked to a Viper team driver today, and from the sounds of it you guys are looking to address this issue? Can you share any insight into what the update(s) might be?
Also about my RMA, I'd rather not just send my motor in now and get the same old style back, if there's going to be an update. I'd rather have the new version if that's the case. Can I get issued a credit?
