Default Ignorance isnt always bliss!

I feel like a rookie...it was the damn futaba transmitter setting. I had the system setting on analog (c1) rather than digital (c2) and that was causing my radio to not bind...Im used to this kindergarden spektrum stuff, lol. Now I moved to this high end radio and I am having some growing pains. Lol. My first clue should have been the fact that the servo was not working either. Typical....blame the viper! :-) Thank you all for your lightning quick responses. Nick please forgive me for blaming the viper! Motorman007 you are the man for pulling my head out of my ass once again with you excellent knoweledge of all things futaba! :-)

While we're on the subject, and since Motorman is active right now...

On a Futaba 4PLS, do you calibrate throttle and brakes at 100, or 120 (max setting)
I've heard both, I always went with max settings, but i've been told im leaving some on the table.
Would love to hear how this works.

I'm not 100% positive on this but I think 150% is 100% on transmitters. I mean, I may be wrong and I will ask him tomorrow to verify. That being said I still calibrate mine on 100 because thats what the manual said to do. Surely the engineers at viper and tekin own a spektrum and futaba and have thought about this. Either that or we are leaving some on the table! Lol. Realistically 100% is the max something can be. Its like saying I gave 120% to win that race. Well that is physically impossible...right? So 150% epa is literally 100%. I think?? :-)

Radio EPA - you should program the radio with the EPA set at 100 for throttle and 100 for brake. If you set it more - it makes the actually range the throttle has to move longer. So, as you move the trigger it takes a longer motion to reach full throttle. The "feel" could be even softer (because of the extra throw), but also the range that you hit full throttle is less.

The software is designed for the EPA to be 100 for the throttle and brake.

FYI. I accident calibrated my esc with my brake epa at 60%. Guess what happened. At full brake the esc brake light didnt go solid. What does that mean, the viper somehow knew my radio was not at 100% and didnt set it accordingly, lol. /weird. And yeah, I always try to do 100% F/B. This was with a MT4.

Thanks Nick,
I was kinda figuring that it might make it feel "less aggressive" by calibrating at 120 rather than 100.
I doubt it would really be noticeable unless it was on a very slick track... which brings me to this question...
Why do radio manufacturers have a setting past 100? I mean, 100 should be full throw, I think i've seen Spektrums that go to 140 or 150, my Futaba goes to 120... just seems kinda kooky.
Either way, im gonna reset mine to 100 and see what happens there, and try testing it calibrated at 100, then bump the EPA to 120 and see what it does.

I used to. too smelly for me. I would get back into 8th scale with an ebuggy though, but not track around here to justify the 1k+ to buy the car and running gear

I was able to run two packs through my trouble some Viper. For what ever reason, it did not like me any more. I was having issue after issue.

Well it looks like they are all gone now. She ran very well today. So I got almost 2 hours on it and not single problem from the ESC or motor. I do need to set the punch a little bit higher, but other then that, she runs very well again.

Looks like a firmware update, resetting a few things and she is back to her old screaming demon self.

Buzz.
