Just a question here but I think the statement is old. Is the PC V-link software ready to use on the VTX8?? I got the cable and ez link so I have both ways to connect. On A-mains web-site is says that the pc software is still under development. Is that just an old statement?? If so we can do tuning on the pc also or is it just for firmware updates so to speak.

Just hook it up! The PC link connects to the V-port on the output and USB to the input on the computer. If those connectors are different you did buy the wrong cable, but I highly doubt that because I think all Viper V-Ports are uniform throughout their speed control lineup.
There is one update for the firmware on the VTX8. If your speed control was purchased a while ago it probably needs to be updated. I purchased two VTX8's approximately 3months ago and they came with the new software on them.

2 factors lead me to that statement. First, because its sensored you can fine tune the system with features like Punch, Throttle and Brake Frequencies - this will allow you to get a better overall set up. Not waste energy or generate heat. Second, with the smoother throttle application, amp spikes are lower, with still achieving desired speed and acceleration, with will improved battery life. Which may not be a concern of dumping over a race distance. But more voltage in the pack, should mean less, if any drop off in speed and power available. Sensorless system can often cause you to pull the throttle harder than you want because you don't get that initial reaction.

I would highly recommend that you eliminate the plugs and wire directly from the ESC to the motor. If you determine that you don't want to do this, 4mm bullets will work but you better make sure they are TIGHT!!!! Even slightly loose plugs (you might not be able to even feel it) can lead to problems.

I just like the convenience of unplugging for maintenance. Maybe I'll have to get one of those butane soldering irons, do they work good?? I frequent some outdoor tracks with no or limited electric
