I think my vtx8 is toast. I was at the track, going down a straight and it just stopped, no steering or throttle . Walked out to it and pulled the body and the vport lights were going crazy. I was not able to turn off the esc using the vport, so I pulled the battery and set the truck aside for a while.
The esc will arm fine, everything looks normal. However, instead of profile 5 (my custom), it boots in profile 1. If I hold down the vport button, I can access programming mode. One in programming mode, my provable can access the tuning. But, I cannot change the profile setting on the esc. As soon as I hit the button to change the profile, it reboots the esc into profile 1.
I adjusted profile 1 settings to match my custom and armed the esc. While holding the truck, I am able to rev the motor and I have steering. If I set the truck down, I have steering but the when I give it throttle it will shoot forward then stop and I lose steering and throttle control. Once this happens, the lights on the vport start dimming randomly and the fan will shut off. At this point I can no longer turn off the esc with the vport. If I unplug the battery and plug it back in, it arms as normal and works perfectly fine, until I set it on the ground.
I am at a loss as to what to do. Any thoughts?

Make sure the Radio is in normal speed mode too. Not high speed. Keep us updated on if it helps

Personally I ran the 12.5 (stock) rotor with 34/69 gearing when I ran the B4.2 Timing on the endbell is at 45 deg. ESC Settings 100% punch, 5000mhz pwm.

the stock rotor is 12.5mm It's already more torque than most of the other motors. They usually come with 12.3mm rotors. We do have a 12.3 and a 12.0 so you can fine tune for each track / layout. We also have a 12.8, which is even more torque.

Here we go again! VTX8/VST4.5XL in a SCTE 2.0 still shutting down! I am running profile 4 with no changes, 12 tooth pinion and the motor temp cut off is set at 230. Today it didn't have any problems during three qualifiers but in the eight minute main it shut down, again. This happens every week! I have tried turning down the punch, timing, different pinions and raising the motor temp cutoff. There is no binding in my drive train. I am out of ideas. This is the last shot for this set up. I am now know as the guy that always has problems. Any suggestions?

if you aren't running A55 firmware, you are only using about 60% of the total power. The jump that was made in A55 is nothing short of amazing.

The system still arms and works fine. Light throttle works. A hard pull will stop the fan and I lose steering and throttle. After the lockout, the lights on the vport will flicker and as they flicker my servo (savox, super loud) will lightly try to center itself.

Bob - I wasn't able to temp it right after it cut out because the race had to finish before I could get my truck back. After the qualifiers when it didn't temp out I saw 165 to 177 degrees outside temp. I ordered the pc link this morning. Is it possible I don't have the latest update in my vtx8 and that's the problem? Will loading the A55 update really make a difference? Thanks for your help!

But If you've confirmed before that the motor is hitting only 160-170, turn the cutoff completely off.
