mulepic - you can use that much - but its a trade off - you don't use as much top end timing - its variable between track, driver and set up conditions. There is no one magic bullet. Its something you have to work out for yourself.
For those mentioning a cut off -- keep in mind there could be 5, 6-8 different things that can cause a cut off either individually or by themselves. Its something that all the mfg's are working with because of the way the motors and batteries are used nowadays. We always want to work to find the reason, but just wanted to point that out.

need a little help Viper people.
I have a very low use 7.5, I put it in my car, a Schumacher K1, and it felt like the mesh was too tight, although it looked perfect.
So, I took the motor out, and with the pinion on, when I turn it over it turns, but doesn't spin.
I have not hooked any power up to it since I noticed this issue.
Any thoughts?
Thanks

stulec, sounds like a possible bad pole in the motor -- one of the 3 poles may not have shorted. We can evaluate the motor if you send it to us. If 1 pole is burnt, is normally a mfg short, if all three are burnt that occurs from getting to hot running. But since you said it has barely been used, my guess is the first, but we need to look at it. You can fill out an RMA and send it in to us.

I agree 100%. Going with a lower KV motor and a larger cell Lipo will result in less amp draw and longer run times.
1900kv and 1750kv is a must for serious racers. No one at my local track runs 2700kv.
Although, 2700kv on 3s would be just about the same RPM's as 1900kv on 4s so the lighter 3s pack might make a buggy more nimble. It might be something to try. But, for longer mains, 5s or 6s is the way to go. Especially Truggys.

I got to say Iam really liking the viper speed controls.
I got two copper heads, four vtx10r's, one is BE, and just got a vtx8 two weeks ago and it ran great this last weekend in my rc8 while trying it out, cant wait to get one of the new motors when they come out. i have always been a oval racer , but recently my sons Austin 14 and Scott 12 have taking interest in off road racing. last month was a cool moment for me as a father, we all ran together for the first time ever in a rc race in the rc no limits of ga event at waycross ga fairgrounds in short course class. this past weekend me and my youngest son scott and I ran the rc no limit of ga. race again. my son scott had a good run for it being his third race ever and I had good run to a second place finish. we all are going thru a learning curve in racing off road and learning the speedos.

I can't find my receipt though.
I've had no luck with Viper motors recently, but love your customer service !

Is it OK to run the be capacitor on the red vtx10? The one on top does not fit in the esc area on my rb6 so I just have it bent up but an afraid that might be part of my reboot problem because its just kinda floating upright. I do have the a55 software loaded.

stulec - ask the guys at PM to print you another receipt, I am sure they will help you out.
Derry - I have seen some drivers use it. It should work OK, just be careful getting it soldered on. Yes if you have the caps bent funny, it may be loosing contact, which will shut off the system.

corn bread, sorry I missed your post. My apologize I don't know anything on the Fantom motor so I can't point you in a direction in timing that motor. Gear ratio sounds right for 7.5 though.

got a prob with the motor temp....keeps going to 150 in sc10 with 17 84 gear....I got low frequencies 5000hrz on throttle and break....running blinky mode. big wide open track large straight 150 feet or so..

The lower throttle PWM freq. gives you more motor heat, I believe. Try raising that. I run the exact same gearing in my SC10 with a Viper 8.5 and I could run til the cow's come home without getting too warm.

fantom motors are hand worked motors based off the trinity d3.5 series motor. re shim and better hand picked rotors. it is a 12.5 rotor and has nice bearings in there. so it would be similar to the d3.5 7.5 turn motor
here is a link to it http://www.fantomracing.com/proddeta...?prod=FAN27887
