I think everyone hit the temp question. Please do remember the measurements are internal so there is a little difference. For 17.5 I disable my motor temp (measure on the outside of can), with mod I set it about 220-230. For esc, its pretty much always 220. Maybe little higher for 4wd SC.

Ok, having a huge problem with my viper system. I had a viper 5.5 that Nick switched out for a 4.5 after a problem at Motorama. It made one race at Motorama and started smoking. I bought the 5.5 brand new. But this 4.5 was traded to me by Nick. How do I get my warranty and get it fixed??? When I run it the smoke pours out the back end where the sensor plug goes. And smells real bad.

Doubt it. Mod1 13t on a 39 spur. That was for motorama in the main. 5min of running. ESC came of at 98 degrees. Its been turned on once since on a car stand. Smoke poured out on the car stand. Went to 139 degrees on the motor in 30 seconds of running. The 5.5 that Nick pulled at motorama came off the track after one practice run full of dirt inside the can. It was brand new out of the box that day.

spider - PM me with your info and we'll get you taken care of.
BTW - everything at the 1/8 track at Motorama got dirty than what some normally see, its a different kind of dirt than the clay or "baseball diamond clay" used by many tracks. I pitted by the 1/8 track in 2012, still think my stuff if dirty from it

No worries I will do that and let you know how I go.... I just love the feature due to not running for sheep stations so I dont like melting motors for no reason.
What is the outside can temp on your stock motors then??
Cheers Nikos

Forward power is a setting in the speed control which has to be programmed and changed before or after a race. But EPA can be set only via your radio and its not a true change to the speed control settings but just limits the total throttle movement which can be done in a hurry.
Both result in the same thing but the forward power should be adjusted first off if there is time but otherwise EPA can be useful
Hope this helps

jjfo has it right - another thing can be that if you use EPA to limit our power or brakes and you can sometimes get some weird feeling from your radio. Like the brakes or throttle feel "soft" because the EPA are different from what a speed control expects to find.

inconsistant thats for sure.... When you set your speedie the settings are true....
No matter how much you spend on your radio the EPA is still not the same setting as setting it in the speedy.

Just installed my copperhead system and it has a ton of torque but its smooth at the same time. I have the Pro Gauge and haven't figured out how to use it, but the first change I want to do is mess with the brakes and monitor my temps a little better. I noticed that my Pro Gauge has multiple connections and only two different types of wire connectors. Will I need to purchase the right connectors in order to use it? Also, the instructions that came with it weren't descriptive at all. Being so new to this hobby, how can I find out how each setting on the Pro Gauge affects the motor (like the side effects of increasing punch or forward power level and what they actually do)?
I went and purchased a second 5.1k system I liked it so much. I put an Integy fan/heatsink on the can and it busted after flying off on my second run. Is there a better option for the 540 or 550 copperhead motors? Why doesn't Viper produce a durable cooling fan for their motors? I would buy it in a second.
Awesome product Viper...Keep up the good work!

To use the progauge you just need to plug it into the VPort (switch), power car on, press the button one time (orange and red lights will appear), select Link and it should tie you in. Select Change to see parameters and OK when down, go out to the Change, Load, Save screen and remember to Save your settings. Please the button one more time to put it back in drive mode. The two cables you need for land (car) uses are supplied, you can also plug the ProGauge into your receiver and check that your radio "throw" is maximum.
We don't supply fans for our motors, because if they are set up and geared properly, shouldn't need it. If you want to add one on your own, there are lots of options out there.
Thanks for the kind words -- hope you keep using the product!!!!

what is the difference between these two rotors? the first one is for the mod motors, the second is for the Stock motors.
