bds - No, the Copperhead system does not have the detail of settings that the VTX series does. There is an esc temp cut off programmed into the system, but its not motor like VTX, because there is no sensor to measure it.

To disable the Smart Brake, go into the menu. Under Trigger RPM, turn it down to disable.

Thanks for the help again. I am starting with 75/24 and I am close but need more practice time and set up. The B4.2 is running good just need my race time.

A wire going into my switched on the vtx8 got cut in two. Can I send it back and have a new switch installed? What is it going to cost?

trx - check you PM

Mike - The gearing I sent was SC - did you need buggy gearing, that's a long different. I think I have 69-32 on my car right now for a track with about a 100' straight (longest part).

My buggy is gearing is good. That was the first one I did. 69/34 or 35. I just changed the motor on the SC to a Viper VSt17.5.

Why are these systems so noisy? I just noticed how loud the winding is, it's a LOT louder than any other system ive ran?

My guess is you are talking about the Copperhead systems. It's their personality - they are noisy, torquey, little power plants.

Sounds a a V8 Corvette racing against Ferraris at LeMans, you can hear the grunt of the 'vette very distinctive.

Comes from the software working to get the quick spin up of the sensorless motor to give it a smoother feel -- more like a sensored system.

Must be a copperhead system. That is the only one that is noisy.

Ok cool, i just wanted to make sure it wasnt a bad thing. It is a Copperhead, the 45R series. It runs flawlessly and liked a raped ape which is why i was confused lol.. Thanks for the confirmation of everything being ok, i was just a bit concerned by the noise. It almost sounds like im running a metal spur gear.. Either way though, it doesn't matter as long as it's ok that it sounds like that.

I would also like to say that the Progauge is pretty sick, i love it! I have two Viper systems atm and love them both! Both are 1/10 systems.

What is safe temps for the VX4R.45 speedo and motor?

I think I got my motor shutting down problem solved in my Copperhead R/5150. The EPA on my steering servo was way off. I adjusted it and put a 12T pinion on it. Yesterday I ran four packs and had no issues. This was with my SCTE converted to an e-buggy. So far temps have been good. If the temps start to get too high what should I adjust? Also if the esc gets too hot will it shut down before it frys?

gearing down helps if you can, lowering Punch and Motor Timing will also normally save you some heat, if things are getting too hot.

Thanks Nikos. I am hoping I can run the Copperhead system until I can get a VTX8. Sunday I will be putting a full day of practice on it. It should be interesting to see how it performs against full on e-buggies.

Hi All

I have a problem with my VTX8 after about a minute and usually at full throttle I lose all power (still have steering) and I have to reset the ESC to get it back however even then sometimes it does not want to go.

The lights on V-Port when this happens are

P – Solid Red
S – Solid Green
N – Solid Green

I have tried two different motors, receivers and batteries and it all does the same thing

Lipo cut off is 12.8v

ESC cut off is 220 (ESC is not even warm)

Any Ideas?

Check/change your sensor cable.

Have you ever removed and put it back?

I think I did that and it was not good after that.
