The only problem with that, is if u have to turn it down to much it makes your esc get hotter. If u have to go more than 20% you need to use your esc settings.

For those with the Copperhead 5150 questions. I hope you geared down 2-3 to get into the rpm band of the motor if you ran the same gear as you did with the 4000kv motor, you were over geared. If it didnt run in straight line a good 125-150 feet. It didnt hit full rpm. So yes, it would seem slower and get hotter. Run a v6 vs a v8 but only use 3rd gear on the v8, won't get the same results.

I geared down from 17/50 to 14/52. Multiple runs in a huge parking lot (200ft or more).

the pro6 and pro9 are additional power caps that you would use WITH your ESC's cap. They help lower temps, add run time, and give you that little extra punch. When I received my pro9 for testing, I was curious as to how it would translate on the track. I'm happy to say it dropped my lap times on average by 2-3 tenths per lap!

as far as the other caps, use the proper one that comes with your ESC. If you aren't sure, just give us the model of the ESC and we can assist you with the right one.

The BEC on the VTX10 and BE VTX10 is worth getting those over the VTX1. Now if you plan on using it for on-road too that might make sense to buy the VTX1 of the VTX10. I know it is lighter by a few grams. IMO get the 10 in either version or color and you won't have to worry about brown outs.

Okay, so I changed the double sided tape to velcro for the esc mount. I also checked the steering travel with no power and then checked servo travel. It wasn't at the endpoints but I backed them down about 5 percent anyway.
Lastly and probably the most important...I added a spektrum 1600 rx capacitor. It's actually called a voltage protector...model 1600. It's about 5 bucks. I ran Saturday, 3 heats and a main. Ran great! I had two 2nd place heats and then my driving skills started sucking...lol.
I believe the cap may have done the trick...finally.
If something changes I come back with an update.
Thanks to all the people that helped!!

If you are running 17.5 or 13.5 that VTX1 is still a good choice for off road, lower motors, 10 or 10R would be better choices overall.

spider - we don't sell a direct fan kit for motors, we sell a fan, but not specifically for the motor. Check out some of those crazy high RPM ones they make for touring cars!!!

Are the VF8 units going to be partially rebuildable - replacement rotors, sensor units, etc?

We use one VTX10 in 1:10 buggy with 6,5T motor, other VTX10R with 4,5XL motor in Slash 4x4, and oredered VTX8 for 1:8 buggy.
