I was running the truck on the street doing some front yard bashing and drifting truck was running great. I was running the truck toward me and went into a left turn drift and spun out truck roll backwards toward me and didnt hit anything and just stopped wont go anymore. I have steering but no throttle. esc has green and red lights lit up motor wasnt even warm to the touch only run for 5 minutes. pack voltage was checked after and cells were at 3.92, I plugged in another full pack 10 min later and same thing red and green lights on no throttle but i have steering

Yup...same problem that more and more people are having. I thought I had corrected mine by using a voltage capacitor. Wrong...yesterday I didn't even roll over, I think it was just rough ground.
The viper guys will try to help but I really feel it's time for a recall. I'm also not willing to pay 50 bucks for an exchange just to wonder when it will start acting up again.
Good luck finding a solution and if you correct it please post the fix!

Needs some help. Bro is at the track with my SC (I had to work, so I let him run it). Problem is once the truck is stop, it won't go, unless its pushed. Truck is running great otherwise.

2 IP 4600mah 70c shorties (running in parallel, 9200mah total capacity)
I've searched and searched the internet. All's I can find is traxxas vxl nonsense. If I had to guess, maybe the sensor on the motor?

Guys having Copperhead issues, make sure you email Nick the details. He may have suggestions / or need more info. I apologize but I don't have any experience with the Copperhead so I can't help.

84 and Graveyard - if you are seeing that error code on the Vport it means the ESC has detected an over temperature situation. If you measured the temperature with a temp gun and its low, then the issue is a loose connection in the bullet connectors on the motor/esc tube. If they arc, the esc will measure a high temp error, because as you can imagine an arc could have high temps.
If your concerned that is an issue with your unit, please fill out an RMA and send the unit in. It will come to my desk and I will look at out. I work on every warranty item that comes into the office and we aren't seeing that many Copperhead compared to what we are selling. If you really think there is an issue with your unit, please send it to me. We check every unit on the bench to verify its working condition with power. If we don't see an error or issue on the bench we will actually put it in a vehicle and run it to see if we can try and duplicate what you experienced.

I have checked my connections and I see absolutely no arcing signs anywhere. I have changed my double sided taped to velcro to give it a little give or cushion. I added a Spektrum voltage protector...model spm 1600.
I have used multiple batteries also and it has happened with different ones installed. This is a very strange problem...doesn't really seem to have trouble with a bad landing or rollover or crash...just a light tap or a side swiping motion. It could very well be a loose connection but I can't seem to find anything wrong. I'm out of warranty also.
I may box it up and send it to ya this week though, I'm really tired of dealing with it.
Thanks for trying to help, my friends are kidding me cause I always seem to find the bad one in the bunch.

Any update on the VF8 motors? I see that you can now pre-order a VF8.19 from AMain so I guess that's a step. I'm waiting to install my VTX8 until I get the VF8.19 and have been getting ancy.
Was a bit bummed to not see a obvious Viper representation at eNats. Were any drivers there?

84 - if the green Neutral like is blinking (and beeping) it means the esc can not get a neutral signal from your radio. If you move the trim up or down 3-4 clicks and re-calibrate it should fix it. I have one model in my 4pks radio that does that.
Graveyard - I responded to your PM
Grasshopper - there were a few folks there using our esc's I traded some messages with them over the weekend, didn't seem like we had any issues or failures other than bad racing luck.
Since our 1/8 motors were not ready yet, we didn't make a big push for the 1/8 nats, plus ROAR really hasn't done us an favors, so we aren't going out of our way, if you know what I mean. There are bigger things to work on in the big picture.

I sent in a VTX8 for repair some time ago. I just bought a truck to install it in and am trying to desolder the wires because they are way too short. I tinned the iron and held it on there but I think the solder on the speed control wires was applied with a lot more heat than my iron or something, so I dont want to have to heat it up too hot and fry the speed control.
I dont want to burn up the speed control with too much heat and a high quality soldering set is out of my price range. What should I do?
