I was going with the 10R...the real question is BE for more money (no combo) with the 8.5t or the original 10R in the combo. It's $269.99 for the regular version in the combo with the motor and Pro Gauge or $279.98 for the BE with the motor a la carte with no Pro Gauge...keep in mind I already have a Pro Gauge.

Grasshoper - same statement applies - if you plan on running a 550 motor, get the BE.

Rick - my son is jealous, he loves trains - its been 2 years since we did a dinner train.

Trying to find something in the direction of track having a big race - to invent a reason to stop by and say "hi" to everyone.

Do you recommend using "acceleration boost"/"top speed timing" on the VTX10R with a 10.5 turn VST motor in a 2wd SCT? If so, what we be a good starting point? Would the default profile #3 (off-road 13.5 boosted) be too much?

You could start with that profile, but I would tone down the timing and boost settings a little. To start. Plus go down a few teeth as well to compensate. Boost is a helpful tool, but it may take a little time to dial in. Everyone has a little different feel and style so what works for one person may be too strong or too weak for another.

Strange, never had that problem what so ever. If you're blowing BEC's just solder a bigger one on yourself. So you won't have to wait for a return, or blow another. The only time I've seen this is if the polarity is reversed when plugging in the battery.

With the F and R blinking on the V port indicates motor over temp protection, what do you have the temp protections set at?

stuntryda- we have no more of an issue than anyone else - these motors we are all using nowadays are pushing all systems to the limits. If you keep having the same exact issue, we should look into all the factors that could lead to this.

Bob- we will have team drivers there supporting the race, I am going to IIC in Vegas the same weekend for some on-road action. Last in the three 17.5 classes we took 1st in two classes and had 6 of 9 podium positions. Plus 2 podiums in modified classes - hope the team can repeat tose results!!!

Tibbs- check and see what your motor temp cut off is at - might be too low. Thanks Badger!!

plus 1 here never had a viper bec fail and been pleasantly surprised as most all other brands i have had issue with at some point ....i would check everything thats in the loop especially if its a re-occuring problem ....i usually go on the theory of if it happens once it can the product if it happens again and again i start to look elsewhere
