Went racing today. We had a great turn out again in 4wd mod buggy. We had a few fast guys from Cal up to race with us. The car was running good and i was at maybe 85% driving today. My viper system ran great. I'm running a 7.5 in blinking mode. I also have ordered a 6.5 and 5.5 motor for my buggy. All and all a good fun day of racing.

You said nothing about being legal. Give it time with roar, I'm sure it will be legal as soon as one of the bigger brands has one to run at a roar event. Then they can push it right through.

The Copperhead 3900kv system is a 540 4-Pole Motor, but does not meat ROAR specs internally. (At least to the current 540 motor rules, which are for 2-Pole motors)

Truth is that there are no rules for a 540 4-Pole motors yet, and ROAR has yet to publish any information in regards to what specs are needed to be labeled legal. All ROAR has done thus far is add a couple of motors to the approval list.

Viper is waiting to see what direction ROAR goes in regards to the 540 4-Pole Rules before they invest the resources to develop it.

Copperhead is a system that is designed to re a upgrade replacement for the RTR market, it just happens to be a fast and smooth, very affordable system. It was really aimed as a good basher system.

Viper contacted me.

They are sending me a new motor.

Sounds like there was an issue with the magnets in some of the first batch of motors.

Anyway they are taking care of it and fast so that's good.

URGENT NOTICE TO VIPER COPPERHEAD USERS

Dear Viper customers. As you know we have released our new Copperhead VX4 system couple weeks ago. We have found an issue with a small percentage of our VX4R 4500kv and 5150 kv 550 size motors coming from the first batch. The magnets from our supplier had some problems and the small percentage that was affected will malfuntion during the first run. We have fixed this problem with our new batch and will replace the motor for those that have this problem. Please note only a few of them were affected, not all

Symptom:
The rotor magnets will crack in the first run and to cause the motor to spin freely along with noise and malfunction.

If you have this problem please visit Viper's RMA website http://www.viper-rc.com/contact.php and fill out the form. After verification we will email you and send a return shipping label so you can send the damaged motor back. If you have questions please email [email protected] or PM me directly and I will help you. Please write "Copperhead Problem" in the subject and include your name, phone number and shipping address so we can provide you with the best customer service. Viper is here to help and we will do our best to provide help

Man, I feel bad that it happened to you like that. I have been running the 4500 for months without a single issue. Although it was a test system.
Viper will take care of you. The system is really good...don't give up on it just yet.

Just as an FYI. I ran my VX4R.45 in an SC10 4x4 today for good 10 minutes. Up and down the street full throttle all the time. Through the grass around my house (wife wasn't happy). Motor barely got over 120* and ran good. No issues.

And this was a production motor!!
