They have 540 motors, not sure if its the correct kv that you are looking for.
You said nothing about being legal. Give it time with roar, I'm sure it will be legal as soon as one of the bigger brands has one to run at a roar event. Then they can push it right through.

Hey

Well in the last week I've seen three ecs (vtx10) completely stop working. Two of them were mine and the other was a friends. One was brand new the next only had a pack ran though it and the last only had about 5 races. I don't know if I should I should give viper a third chance or not. As any one else had problems like this?

nikos2002 02-11-2012 01:02 AM

Mike, sorry to hear you had an issue. Especially multiple. Would live to say it will never happen, but that's not the reality. At my local track last week, every major mfg of speed controls had failures. PM is what you were having happen. We have had some customers with 'issues' but sometimes we can talk it out. It if you haven't done so already you can warranty them turn around time is 1-2 weeks depending on shipping

Are you racing or bashing? I run profile #5 w/ some minor adjustments. I leave timing at 3-5.

Got my Progauge to connect to my VTX10R and started playing with it.

A couple questions.

Keep in mind I am a Tekin guy and am used to being able to program whatever I want.

Can I create my own profile or am I limited to modify an existing profile?

1. is reverse only available in practice profile?

2. why is timing not adjustable in practice profile?

3. so to adjust timing do I have to pick a profile that already has timing in it?

What I want to do is figure my gearing and timing for my track during off hours where there are no marshals. Having reverse saves alot of trips up nd down the drivers stand.

If this is not possible I may just have to switch back to my good old Tekins.

Well i purchased a viper motor combo from A-main hobbies VX4R .51 (5150kv) got it in Tuesday of this week Feb 7, 2012 Installed my motor combo into my rc car Losi 810 converted to electric (its pretty much a scte maybe few Oz. lighter) went to run Fri day at my local track (LRH Hobbies) went thru 2 batteries and the motor decided to un-glue the Rotor from the magnet temp staying below 145F, was very disappointed at this combo totally killed my night... So i bought a Novak 4.5 T Motor.... Please PM viper representative, since you guys dont know how to answer PMs......

Here is my question to VIPER i have a non working motor combo amain wont give me a refund or an exchange, i wanted to know if i can send this back to you guys and exchange it for one of your ESCs to run with my novak 4.5 t motor......... If Viper wont exchange it yall want to buy it, its under warranty i have the receipt Just send it in they will repair it...This is the last time i purchase a VIPER MOTOR COMBO (its what i get for giving another company a shot)

nikos2002 02-11-2012 05:04 PM

Sonny - I don't have any PM's from you. Sorry to hear that you had any issues, especially when you are racing at the track, any issues - failure, parts break anything can ruin a night. I would be glad to answer your questions. Yes, the motor does have a warranty against any mfg defects. The RMA (return process) is on our website - www.viper-rc.com. You can also call our 800= during regular weekday business hours and we would be glad to talk to you about.

nikos2002 02-11-2012 05:11 PM

Mundy, hope this answers your questions feel free to PM me or email me at [email protected] if you have more:

Pre-question - the profiles provided are guidelines, we have customers who purchase the esc's without the ProGauge, so the profiles will give them a wide range of choices to use. Every profile can be adjusted to your favorite set up or idea for testing and practice. I have one driver I work with that has each profile set up for a specific track he races, all for a 13.5 motor.

1.Yes reverse is only available in practice mode.

2.Timing is not adjustable in the practice mode because of the possibility of damage that could occur to the motor running in the reverse direction with possibility of boost. You would be amazed at what we see people do with their equipment.

3. I think answering the pre-question will point you in the direction of that information.

let me know if you have any other questions.

Mundy1 02-11-2012 05:49 PM

Thank you Nikos.

You did answer my questions.

It is unfortunate but understandable with regards to the reverse and timing that everything has to be idiot proof.

So if I understand I can use each profile to build as you said each track I race at and save it that way.

So for example
profile 1 could be 20 boost and 15 turbo
profile 2 could be 0 boost but 15 turbo
profile 3 could be 0 boost and 0 turbo
Sorry for the Tekin terms I know you call them something different but I think you know what I mean.

Thanks,
Mundy

Ran my new copperhead esc that i got this week. Didnt run the 5150 motor, instead i stuck w the tenschock sc401 4600kv motor iv been running. After tweaking profile 3 w/ the programmer it felt very good in my scte. Problem i ran into was i couldnt make 8 min main in my scte today. Using 6000 60c promatch pack geared w/ 15t pinion and lipo cutoff @ 7 mins.....anybody got suggestion for runtime?

wasn't it promatch who was selling the 6000mAh packs that were greatly over rated (people were getting like 5000-5200)?
