Good morning,

I just recieved a VTX10R today and plan to install it tonight.

I originally bought it to put it in my 4X4 buggy with a LRP 7.5.

But am thinking about swaping some things around and maybe putting it in My Durango 4X4Truck with a Tekin Pro 4 4000KV motor.

My question is will this ESC run a Pro4 in a 4X4short course truck??

The specs say down to a 2.5 turn. Not sure what the Pro4 is turn wise.

I dont run crazy gearing in my trucks to leave a margine of error in case of bearing failure. I shoot for 130 after a 7 minute main for my motor temp.

The VTX series of speed controls were designed to be run on 2 pole design motors, which were the standard at the time and were all that were allowed to run within 1/10th scale classes at ROAR events. The design pre-dates the existence of 4-Pole motors.

That being said, the 540 4-Pole motors are essentially a scaled down 1/8th scale motor. Check with the motor manufacturer, but I believe Tekin recommends their 1/8th scale ESC for the Pro4 motor, not their 1/10th scale ESC. (The VTX10 and VTX10R are 1/10th scale ESCs)

gearing help

I am getting ready to run my vtx10r/9.5 in my team c 4wd buggy on a tight indoor carpet layout. I was curious on what a good starting setup for FDR would be and if anyone has a good profile for the esc.

thanks

with that car you can start at 20-21 on a smaller track, adjust from there depending on motor temp and how it revs out on the track.

stu541 02-09-2012 07:38 AM

thanks nick. What about profiles? run the offroad mod profile, no adjustments.

nikos2002 02-09-2012 07:47 AM

I always ran #2 and tweaked the brake and throttle freq a little as needed. I disabled the smart brake system for 4wd as the variable drag brake was a little interesting in 4wd over jumps. Be careful that the slipper in that car will make the motor feel "lazy" on the bottom end. It's not the motor, its the slipper.

I hear ya on the slipper. I have it cranked down and it still feels bad to me. I will definately have to play with it.

thanks again

the 10 is thinner and will prob fit much better, handles down to a 7.5 so thats all you need. :tire:

It handles all the way down to 6.5 motors.

Is there a trick to getting the pro gauge to link?

I plug it in and scroll to link device and hit ok. It says link failed.

I tried to unplug and replug and everything else I could think of.

Please help.

Never mind just found it in the instructions. Looked at the a bunch of times before and skipped right over the part about the pro gauge.

Yes, you have to hold down the red button and put the esc into programming mode before you can link the progauge.
