But again, Viper does not recommend it. The VTX10R was not designed for it.

Procedure for RMA Defective Copperhead Units

In an attempt to be "Pro-Active" vs. being "Re-Active", Viper has setup an exchange program on the first run VX4 motors to insure that the best possible solution is available to the customer. Our goal is to ensure that all new VX4/VX4R production will meet the quality commitment and make sure that all customers will enjoy the product without worries.

It has been discovered that there is a problem with the attachment of the magnet to the rotor shaft, and the problem arose in the transition from R&D (motors built by the design engineers) to production (motors being built by production staff). It is a training issue where the magnet may be damaged during installation.

Extensive testing and R&D was done on the development of the VX4 motors and the Copperhead Speed Controls to ensure the utmost reliability and performance from the system. And though the problem with the magnet on the rotor lies in a very small number of units when compared to the number of units that are working just fine, Viper is going to institute an exchange program to insure that the end user ends up with what they deserve.

Steps have been taken to ensure there will not be any future problems with the use of a new fixture in the assembly process, and Viper is going to load and dyno every motor that comes off the line. The failure will come very early on if the magnet is damaged, and will show up in the first few moments once in use on the dyno.

If you have a VX4 or VX4R motor and believe you are having a problem with it, please begin the exchange process by:

1. Please visit Viper RMA system on the web site and fill up your detailed information and press enter.

Viper RMA Form

2. Contact Viper tech support at [email protected] with your RMA number and a copy of your original invoice (scanned image or detailed photo) for your Copperhead system.

3. You do not need to send back the motor. We will send you the replacement as soon as we verify your shipping address with original proof of purchase.

4. The Program will run until March 31st, 2012.

Every qualified case will receive a brand new VX4 or VX4R motor as quickly as possible. In the meantime, Viper will send you a ProGauge with free of charge as compensation of this matter.

Again, we sincerely apologize for this problem, and hope to get all customers back to the track with good products soon!

More information can be found on the Viper Facebook page Facebook

What cut-off settings do you have on your speedo? I have seen this happen when setting are too low or there is a bad connection in the sensor wire port at the motor endbell. Please ensure that there is no dirt inside the sensor port or try using a new sensor cable. Hope this helps

Viper Tip #3

Here are some tips straight from the pros. Viper has released a 4X Cap module that can boost performance in your on-road and off-road vehicles. It gives you smoother power and stronger brakes.

Here is the part number 6VSPCAP003
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...2-23124754.jpg

Here you can see the module installed next to a VTX10R. This setup during track testing was 2 tenths faster in touring car 17.5 Spec class and brakes hit stronger and smoother :sneaky:

hmm. Why not offer a better (lerger) cap that comes with the ESC's? instead of having to spend another 25 on that cap if it helps so much?

I take it you install it from the battery leads and leave the factory caps on the ESC?
I may order one of these to see how it works on the Buggy

Looking for a little 13.5 boosted setup help

At my local track we run 13.5 (super stock) for short course. I've been previously running no timing and struggling to keep up. Most of the guys run boosted/timed Tekin setups. No timing was ok for my skill level until this most recent track change.

+ YouTube Video
ERROR: If you can see this, then YouTube is down or you don't have Flash installed.

The triple on the right side of the screen, I can't make it. The tekin boys will over shoot it most of the time. I will case most of the time. I had a couple of guys drive my truck and they felt it was down on power.

My most current setup....

AE SC10 with 81/22 gearing

A19..... I need to order the link cord so I can update

Profile #3
Throttle:
PWM 9600
Punch 100%

Motor power:
Acceleration boost
start 3000rpm
finish 15000rpm
Max timing 30°

top speed timing
Slew 10°/100rpm
max 35°

The motor can is at the stock setting of 30°

This is my 1st real timing ESC so I'm kind of lost on how to make this 13.5 fast. I'm sure I'm doing it all wrong other then my temps are good

Good, like i said, I ran mine since the pro 4 came out. I've run it outside on big and small tracks and the same inside. And I never had a single problem. It ran great.

The gearing is in the ballpark, so I would check if you are getting full throttle on the ESC. Pull the sensor wire off the motor and pull wide open on the radio and see if you get a solid "F" light.

With the amount of timing you are adding and the gearing, you should be either real fast or over-heating it.

Set you Accel Boost RPM to:
Start - 4500
Finish - 12000
Timing 10

Top Speed - I would set to zero and test. With the layout you really don't have a strait-away to use it.
