what is the weight of the VX10 and VX10R esc's?
and don't say its light haha they have omitted this small detail out. edit, found it, 47 and 58grams respectively? |
I purchased my VTX10 and put it in my buggy with a 17.5 reedy and it is working great. Is it worth getting the pro gauge to just set the brake or should I use the programed ones in it? I want to buy another one for my SC10 and I might just get it with the pro gauge if it is needed.

The Pro Gauge will make it a whole lot easier to set up your ESC, i highly recommend one. But if your planning on picking up a Viper for the SC10 you might as well just get the Motor/speedo with the Pro Gauge

What Exeter said - yep!!! More options, you can really customize it to your driving style. |
I'm sure it has been asked before, but what is the maximum temperature on the 550 XL motors? I have been running to 160*. Is this OK?
|
If you are measuring outside temp around 160, its not too bad. If you can get the speed you want and stay around 150 thats great. But your in the ball park - I have run it hotter, but if you want it to last, your close.
|
I meant to say that I quit running at 160*. My fan broke and ambient temps are 90*+. Not only that, my slash see 90% of its drive time in grass. No matter how low I gear it, it still builds heat. Is letting it cool at 160* okay, or should I stop at 150* or less?
|
Here is the thing about heat in a motor. Will it run hotter yes - but you have to realize, the hotter it gets the more chance you have of failure. Also the hotter you run it you are hurting the overall life of your motor. Think about your real car, it has a safe operating temp. When that temp light comes on in your car should you keep driving? When we recommend staying around 150, it's because we have learned our motors are fast, efficient and durable, if run around that temperature geared properly. Second thing to remember about heat is time. The longer you run, the hotter the electronics get. If you measure your temperatures at 3, 5, 7 minutes you will see how they rise. If you want to run 15-20 minutes you can do that - just use a much lower pinion. If you want all out speed - gear up - but plan on running only a few minutes. Not because the battery will die, but because of the heat it will generate. hope that helps.

Do you guys have a motor that is comparable with the pro4 4600kv on power? I would put it in a SC10 4x4 on a large outdoor track.
|
have a XXXsc that I just picked up. after build going to get a esc and motor. my buds that have the truck are running hobbywing 8.5 turn on 2's, I want better, faster, what would you all suggest for motor and esc for the truck and about how much $ Thanks
|
Evil - our Copperhead/Vx4 system is 4 pole motor with speed control combo. 4900 and 5150 kv sizes. The system is unsensored but the software programming is so good you can hardly notice. Plus it only costs about $150 motor and esc.
Chucko- out sensored systems VTX10/VST motors are comparable in every way to Hw, plus smoother power delivery and easier programming via the ProGauge (also compatible with the a copperhead system). In fact I hear HW has recently changed some other their product line and features to match what we are selling. :). :tire: Cost on that product line is about same as our competition across the board, maybe a few bucks less. |

We believe we are right in the same ballpark with the 4 pole systems - plus you same sooooo much. We have had racers with and race very comparably with the Copperhead, in fact some like the torque better than the VTX/VST system. I am going to the East Coast Championship race this weekend and running choosing to run the Copperhead system.

Quick question???????????
Need some help. I installed my VTX10 & Viper 8.5 into my XXX-SCT. This was a complete brand new build from scratch. The receiver is a brand new spektrum also. I got it binded. Did the Throttle, Brake, and reverse settings. Got it out on my test track. Pulled the trigger it ran for 10 ft and shut off... The ESC is on but no power to the motor. Took it back inside. Re-Binded it. Put it down on track again. Ran about 20 feet this time and did the same thing. NO CLUE!!! Plugged the pro-gauge into it went to link system and it said contact failed!!! HELP!!! Oh battery has a full charge. Should I just call VIPER Direct??? I hadn't used my pro-guage in quite awhile and forgot this step. It will fail to connect unless you put the ESC in programming mode. I think you turn it on and then hold the button for 1 second. |
