i ran the R45 this weekend and i was able to gear that thing up to 17T and it was very fast. 16T would probably be more safe as i was running outdoors in about 60 degree ambients.

I run 16t also, temps are good, runtime is good, plenty of speed

even at 17T the hottest it got was 160. i would keep it there until the ambients start to creep up.

base your motor buying on watts not mainly off KV even more so when buying a spec class motor 13.5, 17.5 etc

The R45 is plenty and would serve you better for both tracks. If it was me, I would go R45...just makes more sense if used on 2 different tracks. Gear down indoors, say 14-15t and 16t out.

Thanks. What kind of average runtime can I expect on a 5000 mah 2s?

Check your local rules first. Both the VX4R.45 and VX4R.51 are 550 series motors, but of a 4-pole design. ROAR does not allow 4-Pole 550 Motors in the 4wd SCT class, but allot of the places in the country allow it. It just would not be legal at a ROAR event.

Congrats to ending the wait and making (some) Copperheads are available! Would you give a it more detail on the motors? I am most interested in magnet size and winding of the different versions. Also will a 5mm shaft version or optional rotor be made for the 540 size version?

Just converted an 810 to electric and looking at motors/esc's. I have a MMP and 3800 sitting here. Not sure if I should try running that or get a new Copperhead system.

I am trying to keep this as light as possible and would like to run on 2s, maybe 3s, but trying to stay with 2s. I don't plan to race it, just run it on 2 tracks. Both are outdoor, one is pretty small, the other is a medium/large size track.

I know this is the Viper thread, just thought I would ask for some opinions.

If you do decide to go Viper talk with Rex Welch. He is a dealer and will get you a good price on the setup. I don't know much about the copper head units so I will let others do that part.

The reason why so many of you waited long for the Copperhead to be released, much testing and R&D has been done to make this the fastest smoothest high quality system on the market with amazing affordability. You wont be dissapointed after trying this system.

Also ROAR rules will not apply to this system becaust it is not a pro race system although it will perform just as well as other systems. Our aim was to provide a budget system that you can race at club/race level.
