Cain, few different things there
1) servo - it makes more noise one way more than other? When in the Truck? When not in the truck? Don't know about that one, never noticed that. I would think it would make a difference if it did it when in the truck with the linkage, something could be binding slightly. 2) with the esc - did you try it without the servo plugged in to the receiver - just in case there is an issue there? Would also look at connections and also on the speed control to verify correct battery cut off voltage. Finally was this brand new or a unit you had been using? Anytime something strange or odd happens in the electronics, I like to start from scratch - take everything out, check it over, make sure no wires, cut or crimped, check connections and re-install. to see if something weird or odd happen. PM me if you have more questions. |

PM me if you have more questions. Tried it a variety of ways, even with a different receiver, plug in and not, left it alone with the light on for awhile, with it off, etc. nothing. With motor plugged, unplugged, etc. Can't get to anything with a programmer to even try as it won't "kick over" :( Had worked before no problems. I'll pull the esc out and see what I can find and try. If you can give me some suggestions that would be great, especially what it means when you get 1 solid red light, nothing else. |

Thanks for the communication, regardless of what I have to do, its great at least have someone on the other end to work with on the issue. Not sure if you handle anything on the xpert servo side of things, but sent in a message about what I reported on that thread and some follow up info. Do you feel at all that a servo could take out the ESC in the manner I reported? |
So last night I was cleaning and going over my truck and decided to replace the 24t aluminum pinion gear with a 23t steel one, mostly because it sounded "off" never got the mesh to sound right, anyway ran it out front for a couple minutes and wow, the top end is now almost like the 4 pole it replaced! spins up fast and the laboring feeling is gone! It was a new Robinson gear, so is the steel one that replaced it. I know 1 tooth makes a difference but not that much. it was like a different motor! that was the first aluminum gear I ever ran, looks like the last too. would a bad pinion make that much difference?

anyone notice that the vtx8 is out of stock at a lot of places?
|
If I run more Bec voltage, say 6.5mah's on my vtx10, will I get better performance out of my servo?
|
Your servo needs to be able to handle it. If it isn't, you can damage the servo. Otherwise yes, it will be faster and stronger.

are the ESCs you receive on the trade in program new or just refurbished units?

Has anyone had experience running 6.0 volt servos at a higher bec. rate, say 6.5?? Want to know if my Spektrum 6070 shorty servo rated for 6.0 volts, can handle more bec. voltage without ruining it?? It does work better when I do bump it up a couple volts pass 6.0, but again, is this servo going to be toast if I do? Thanks

Reason I say this is that for hitec at least, the 7955TG they said i could run 7.4V no problem with. Worse thing they could say is use 6.0V :) |
Your servos should be able to go over their recommended voltage limit a bit. When you run Nitro and use a receiver pack its always over the packs baseline voltage ( a lipo is 8.4 fully charged, a 5 cell Nimh pack is well over 6v charged mine would read 6.4 to 6.6v. Also the last time I was running nitro I was using a LifE receiver pack with a baseline of 6.6v with standard 6v servos with no ill effects. Just don't push it to much. If you noticed expert gives their servo specs at 6.6v at 8.4v why is that?

Ok so this is a new one for me and I seen it happen on two other cars this past weekend. I have been running the VTX8 (with the 64 software) and the LRP 10L in my Losi SCTE. The truck would run just fine for around 6 mins then shut down with the F and R lights alternating. It says on the Viper website that the motor is bad. So I buy a new HW 4700 and put it in and it does the same thing. Things I have tried.
1. 3 different batteries 2. 3 different motors 3. different receiver 4. unplugged the servo 5. new sensor wire The truck had run flawless for the past 4 or 5 months and this started last week. |
