Thanks for the reply. My instuctions are different than that. Mine must be really old!! Lol. I'll give it a try. Also, I have an M12 and the steering, throttle and brake go to 150%? Should I calibrate both at 150% or 100% like it suggests in the viper instructions? Not sure?? Thanks.

100%, regardless of what the max setting is for the radio.

I have a progauge and was wondering what the difference between this and the (newer?) EZLink is? Thanks

ProGauge and EZ-Link are effectively the same regarding programming the ESC. The ProGauge has some extra features that weren't being utilized by the majority of users, so Viper introduced the EZ-Link.

What viper 1/8 system would u recommend for a losi 8ightt 2.0 and rc8

I run a Viper VTX8 and VF8.21 (2100KV) in my E-buggy. The 1900 is probably as much power as anyone would would need and the 2100 is borderline insane, so if you are looking for the most smiles per mile I'd go with the 2100.

ok cool how would you compare the viper systems to tekin or castle thats all i ever ran

I switched from Tekin to Viper last winter and the first thing I noticed (and everyone seems to notice) is how smooth the Viper ESC puts down the power, yet still has all the punch you need.

Cool thanks for the input
I rebuilding my 100mph ruster u think the Viper system can handle that 6s and gearing.

The VTX8 would be up to the challenge of 6S. I'm not sure what motor to pick for a 1/10 scale speed run. Would a 1/8 scale motor fit in a Rustler?

Yes the 1/8 motor can fit I already have modded my gear .box

I am measuring about 160 on my 6.5 motor is that in the safe range?

bds81175 11-10-2014 07:05 PM

That's safe to finish at. If you are there after 2 minutes you have a problem...lol. 4x4 buggy? I seemed to get to 160 pretty easily with my 4x4 buggy when I ran it as well.

Tried some searching for the answer to this but it gets a little unwieldy.

New into RC Racing w a B5 Buggy Viper VTX10 Black Edition w pro gauge (great feature).

techsavvy, but feeling my way through some of this.

I have the A64 Firmware.. and know there are 8 default profiles you can load/change/save to.
need some clarification on one piece that doesn't compute in my tech savvy brain and is not articulated in the manual.

All my needs for this ESC are for offroad with this 2WD buggy. My assumption is that I can use any of the profile slots to change and save to for my purposes, and that any/all factors related to tuning in the ESC are adjustable and I can save to any profile for my Offroad needs, and there are no hidden parameters stuffed inside the OFFROAD v ONROAD and SPEC v MOD etc..

So i can change and save to one profile for one track, then edit and save to another profile for a different offroad track (say more drag brake on a hard clay track)..

oh .. and a kudos to the Motor Error Cutoff feature.. Being a newbie I had a little twitch in the pinion/spur mesh at low speed.. the motor error cutoff detected something and went to protection mode during first qual of racing, which allowed me to quickly troubleshoot (with the help of another) and see fine marks on the spur with a non-optimal sound at low speed.. adjusted and went on to have a nice race day with no damage..and not failure in the main Race!

Spamager- great to hear the system is helping!!

Also with your question about the profiles. Each profile is fully adjustable. But the software is slightly tailored to each description. An on road profile will be little more aggressive than an off road profile because typically an on road track has more traction.

Be mindful that the VTX8 is rated to run on 6s. The VF4 motors are designed for 4s as that is standard competition size batter for 1/8. Using a 6s can possibly cause a failure.

how do you reset the profiles back to defaults?

I'm not sure how to reset the whole ESC without reloading the firmware via the PC Link, but the manual has a table of the default values for each profile so you can manually reset the ESC.

spamager 11-11-2014 06:25 PM

Nikos does that mean that if i save the same settings to two different profiles, one that was onroad and one that was off-road that they will react differently? Is that the same w spec v mod etc
