While you might have been just fine with the VTX10 vs the R I think you made the right choice. There was a guy I raced with last year that had issues running a 7.5t and a VTX10. IMO the added weight of the SCT is putting bigger loads on it. 7.5t in a buggy on a VTX10? Sure no issue.
In other news if anyone (not specifically Cain) is looking for a ProGauge I have 4 of them now and just can't see a point to having more than 2. $15 each shipped in the US, PM me if you're interested. |
I have been messing around with the punch settings. I see I can really change the way the truck handles the corners with this setting. if I am slipping and sliding, I can reduce it and now I have better control of the truck on the exit of the turn. I was having a problem with the rear end on my truck being really loose. I tried a lot of things with the truck. I reduced the punch from 50% to 20% and the looseness on the exit of the turn went way down.
So many adjustments. Buzz. |
How hot does a VTX10r normally get after a minute of 8 driving with a 6.5turns motor in a 4WD buggy. Mine was @70 degrees Celsius (158 fahrenheit) Is this hot? Don't know what it may get...
|
Drec - that is getting up there. How hot was the motor? If it was cooler, you might be undergeared. Also were you running in blinky more or a boosted mode? Boosted could make the esc run hotter. Plus - 8 minutes is a pretty big haul for a 6.5, especially depending on how you have it geared.

I thought he meant one minute of figure 8 driving lol

It was modified, letted the boost and timing standard... Is 70 degrees to much? |
Got some Viper motors on the way.
Anyone got any tips on things for these motors that say differ than other brands? I have heard they are more torque based. I got a 17.5 and a 10.5 on the way, looking to use the 17.5 and 10.5 in 2wd buggy, and the 10.5 may get usage in a 2wd SCT. |
What Place In Jeddah does have Hobby Shop or RC Shop?

Just remember with the new a64 software - each profile is specifically patterned for a little different application:
Profile 1- Spec Off Road (10.5 to 21.5) Profile 2 - Mod off road no boost Profile 3 - Spec off road 13.5 boost Profile 4 - Spec off road 17.5 boost Profile 5 - Spec on road no-boost Profile 6 - Mod on road no boost Profile 7 - Spec on road boost Profile 8 - Mod on road boost Inside each of these profiles, besides all the things you can adjust like throttle freq, Punch, Brake, etc. -- the software is customized specifically for that application. Example - Profile 5 will deliver power at lower throttle than Profile 1, because in on road you typically have more traction than off road. for Profile 1, is that blinky? Also, I have a 10.5 that I want to use boost on as welll, would I use profile 3? |

Yes, profile one is blinky. Are you wanting boost on you 10.5? If so then profile 3 will work. If you don't want to boost a 10.5 then run profile 2

OK.
All 4WD 1/10th buggy drivers, what settings do you use? Slow, smooth or agressive? Punch? Frequency? Curve? Would like to test some combinations |
With a64 software. Profile 2, race blinky mode, throttle freq 16k, punch 90-95 (I run mine lower with modified- no trigger finger as I get older). Set brakes to your liking. If you are hard on using brakes maybe raise brake freq slightly, other settings default. Adjust gearing as needed. Also forgot to mention previously, maybe lower physical timing on the motor can.
