The one motor has smelled for more than a few race days and just smells really bad. Oh well. Are they able to be traded in or is it not worth it?

Pumpkin- we do have a trade in program. Info at wee.viper-rc.com/tradein.php

is- thanks for the kind words!! Tell yours friends. After you beat them the first race day I course!!

Badger- we are really excited to be working with CML. Fingers crossed for another good Neo event this weekend. VTX8/VF8 was TQ last year. Finished on the podium. Looking for more this year!!

Testing punch.

I was running my punch at 90% and was not sure it was working or not. So I dropped it to 10%. WOOOO Grandma mode. Very smooth linear acceleration. It had a very smooth inputs. So spins, no tire slip. Yet it sucked for hitting hard to get over the jumps.

So I raised it to 50%. Now we are talking. Not over powered, yet enough to get the tires loose if I over do it. Plenty of UUMPF to get over the short run to the jumps. This seems like a good setup now.

Buzz.

Hope to see a lot of Viper products being run at the Roar Electric 1/8th scale nationals in two weeks. Gonna be a good time.

toying with the idea of going away from my tried and true 1/10 ESC and picking up a viper to complete the offroad family.

Right now I am torn on what to get. I am looking to run this in MOD Pro2 truck. probably about an 8.5 motor.

any opinions on which fits the bill the best for this class?

When you say MOD Pro2 I assume you're talking about a 2wd SCT. In that case I'd suggest a VTX10R BE. You could get away with the non R version but I prefer to err on the side of safety. Do they still make the VTX10R? If so that's fine too and what I've run in my 2wd SCTs with no issues.

cool thanks for the info.

you don't need an R unless you dip down into the 6.5 range or want to run 4wd. I don't even own an R. I run all the std esc in my cars / trucks.

With that said, if you decide on the R, then you are future proofing yourself better. You'll be able to run it in a 4wd buggy later if you choose to.

Can anyone verify that the viper ez link will work with copperhead esc? Don't need the battery tester and other options that come with progague, just need to program esc

DustinH 04-23-2014 05:51 AM

yes it does. They all have the same switch port.

While you might have been just fine with the VTX10 vs the R I think you made the right choice. There was a guy I raced with last year that had issues running a 7.5t and a VTX10. IMO the added weight of the SCT is putting bigger loads on it. 7.5t in a buggy on a VTX10? Sure no issue.

Edit: pro gauges gone, thanks.
