Yep -- more info coming soon :D  :sneaky:  :batman:

I look forward to it. Would be nice to rock a full viper setup in 17.5 stock class.

Cain, the 2 pole 550 L and XL motors are old school tech. 4 pole VF4 motors are current tech. When we did the L and XL motors ROAR told us they would not allow 4 pole for SC racing. 2 years later - everyone was running 4 pole motors (BTW - no rules stated for 4 pole motors - story for a different day). L and XL motors are essentially end of life cycle. 1st) I would suggest 4 pole for better power and acceleration on current 4wd SC chassis. 2nd) Everything VST L and XL are going to be harder to find. 3rd)From testing - if your track is over 90ft in length - 4 pole is going to be quicker than 2 pole. Only reason 2 pole is still good on smaller tracks is because 4 poles are too quick..

cool thanks for the info.

I really hope you guys look into a 4 pole 550 with a ribbed can setup. Something that really kicks butt as I know you guys can produce. Be nice to have an all viper setup like I have been transitioning my vehicles to and those motors are legal here.

One thing I have been hearing though on the 2 pole 550 front is how powerful some of the new 2 pole 550s are, wonder if its the larger rotors they are using like 13.0mm?

how much of a difference inbetween the vf4.45 and the vx4r.45 sensorless...
im trying to put in an oval sct410....just want to get the best bang for the buck...

Power wise they are going to be similar - difference in low end throttle with the fully sensored system being smoother. Even though some people say our Copperhead sensorless is smoother than some other companies sensored products.

Some "other" companies had to lengthen their 4 pole motors to try and get back some efficiency in their motors. The VF4's can pack a punch and still run efficient for their size. Haven't looked at any larger rotor 2 pole motors. I can see the technical advantage, but given the traction being the same the 4 pole will out power it. Have the space and knowing how to use it will make the difference.

Ive got a vtx10r and over the weekend while running the qualifiers my esc would loose power. it was not consistent loss of power either it did it on the straight and landing jumps. i tried turning off motor and esc temp. Changing settings, programing and throttle calibration. after all this same things were happening. motor and esc temps werre not even over 100f degrees. swapped a spare esc for the main and worked perfect with the same motor and sensor wire. any thoughts

Sounds like a loose battery connection and the ESC is going into low voltage shutdown. What type of connectors are you using?

Any flashing lights on switch ?

brokenanout 11-24-2014 07:02 AM

bullet straight to esc. i made sure the bullets per tight in the batteries. actually i put those same bullet plugs on my spare esc when i changed it

brokenanout 11-24-2014 07:04 AM

no flashing lights the shuts off the power to the motor but still had steering. if i sits for 5 to 10 seconds it will take off again only to do it again in a lap or 2

ridgerunner1 11-24-2014 07:24 AM

Mine was doing that and it was a wire on the esc worn half way though you may check that if it looks good you may try re flowing the solder on the esc also, i had one of each happen on 2 different esc.

brokenanout 11-24-2014 07:33 AM

ok will check that out thanks for the replies

Jim Hustins 11-24-2014 08:05 AM

When you have steering but no throttle, the ESC is rebooting from a voltage spike or loss. As long as you keep pulling the throttle, it will not see neutral, and will not finish the boot up process. Double check your wires including your cap.
