So I dropped to a 10t pinion w 1 on punch 1 on timing and 1 on start power and it is still thermoling even though the external temps are good. I don't know what to do?

nikos2002 08-17-2012 07:52 PM

symmetricon - check the bullet connectors and make sure that none of them are loose - we did have a customer who had a loose connection and the arch caused by the loose connection would show as a thermal in the system. So I would check that. BTW - how long are you running before the thermal??

symmetricon 08-17-2012 09:59 PM

I got it figured out, thanks for all the suggestions. Oddly enough, I was under geared. I went up to a 13t pinion and no problems...... I will also make sure there is no flux on my bullets. BTW the TS4 with the 5150kv motor geared 13/54 is insanley fast.... just the way I like it!

calo247 08-18-2012 06:41 PM

Best bet would be to give us a call on Monday, might be easier to talk about it than throw too many different ideas on here. Besides the basics. All connections are good, good sensor wire, radio on, calibrated to right model.

I don't think it will be a problem I have been running the vtx10r with the vst 550 4.5 for about 6 months now in 110 degree weather and never had the motor get over 160. So no I don't think a little cap that is not even touching the motor will heat up my motor any more:D

Dont take what I said personal, it is any thing running over any motor that will couse a shortage of air flow over or around a motor or esc that needs air flow. I allways try to run my wires away from my units if I can.
I just konw noticed how you mounted your fan, sweet idea and if you dont mind I would like to use your idea.

I got picked leaving Orlando, going to Phoenix last March.
I had my Losi SCTE in a small carry on with me, as soon as I put it on theX ray conveyor, the fun began.

After they pulled it off, and asked to inspect it, they were surprised it was just an RC truck. I had 3 batteries with me, 1 in the Losi, and 2 in a lipo sack, duct tape over the bullet holes. They were cool with it.
TSA tossed my footlocker that I used to transport everything else.

Leaving Phoenix coming back to Orlando, same thing, except the guy who was inspecting it said "you know...you have 3 out of the 4 components to build a remote detonated bomb" I was like...dude, its just an RC truck that I play with... I dont even want to know that!!!
Good times, hope it works out for ya!!!

Thanks. Yeah the viper fan broke on me a few times so I needed to figure something out. The wires act like shocks for the fan it will last forever no more broken fan blades:D
Just make sure it will not hit any thing when it flex up and down.

VTX8 testing is going GREAT. This is about my 5th race with it and NO problems and it's never got over 130. Went outdoor racing today and again a really light turnout for some reason here in Northern Nevada 1/8th has really died. The only thing that makes it fun is that Mike keeps coming out and he is a sponsored driver as well and we also have a great battle. I did TQ today but not sure if I would have won the main as Mike was about 8 seconds ahead of me when his car died due to his motor overheated.I had 3 minutes left and I really wanted to see if I could have ran him down. I hate winning like this but a win is a win I guess.

Just want to say thanks to Viper for sponsoring our annual Brawl for it All race in Huntington, WV. Ended up having a good turnout with Bmains in almost every class. Great support!!!

I ended up taking the 3rd place spot in 4wd SCT. Was in second place by 11 seconds all the way to the last lap, and was taken out by someone 4 laps down. It happens. Still was nice to end up on the podium! The Copperhead-R put on a great show. Myself and the guy that TQ'd were the only ones to turn in a 21 lap qual run.

Thanks again Viper!

Rick, I'm like one of Pavlov's dogs everytime you post a picture or something regarding the 8scale stuff!!! I have a Losi 2.0 buggy that is sitting here looking pretty, all clean and shiny, never been run, waiting on one of those to hit the stores. Glad to hear that they are running good. Hopefully I will have one for the indoor season coming up! HINT HINT VIPER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh yea, I was digging that video you posted a few days ago of you running outdoors. Looks like the motor/speedo is super smooth.
