Tobz - the new Black Edition esc's are sold seperately, not in combos. They are out:

Congrats on the results Rick and Dan!!!!!!

It is really smooth and runs great, As far as I understand is that the esc "VTX8" might be ready soon but not the motors yet. If I hear anymore I will let you now. I was running a RX8 and Viper 2 pole motor and I like the Viper better mostly of the pro-gauge ease:nod:

the pro gauge is super easy, i'll have to give you that one. by far the easiest programming of an ESC i have ever seen

Bugger, looks like i'll be better off just getting the combo, much cheaper and not much difference from what i can see, and equipped with bullet connectors. much easier for me to grab the combo and bung it in, not too fussed on the pro gauge, i just like to set it up once and not muck around with fine tuning.

Couple questions
1. What is a good starting range for throttle and brake settings for 2wd mod buggy with a 7.5 and what about a 10.5?

2. When setting up the speedo, i have a spektrum dx3r pro, what do i set for epa? It says 100 percent but on the controller both epa and throttle go to 150. So if i set it with epa and 100 would i not be getting the right setting since its lower than the 150 that is max? Hope this makes sense, just want to make sure im getting full throttle and brake.

3. How does the motor power work and is that similar to the boost on the tekin?

Thanks

Dave

I would set epa at 100 for both

Copperhead-R? What is the R

Hey Rick, I'm gonna try to explain it from what I understand.......lol

Jump in here if I'm wrong Nick!!!!

The Copperheads come in 3 different combos. The only one that comes with the Copperhead esc is the 3900kv motor combo. The 4500 and 5150 come with the Copperhead-R esc.

Here's the differences:

Viper Copperhead
Continues/Burst Current:100A/550A

BEC Output:6V/5A Linear

ON Resistance:0.0009Ω * 2

Support Motor Type:Sensorless Brushless Motors

Support Motor Spec
2S Li-Po w/ 540 class: KV ≤ 6000
3S Li-Po w/ 540 class: KV ≤ 4000

Support Vehicle Weight: ≤6 lb

Motor Connection:3.5mm Bullets

Dimensions:45.5x39.8x29.25mm

Weight (with battery wires and connector): 96g

------------------------------------------------------------

Viper Copperhead-R

Continues/Burst Current:150A/750A

BEC Output:6V/5A Linear

ON Resistance:0.0005Ω * 2

Support Motor Type:Sensorless Brushless Motors

Support Motor Spec
2S Li-Po w/ 550 class: KV≤6000
3S Li-Po w/ 550 class: KV≤4000

Support Vehicle Weight: ≥6 lb

Motor Connection:4.0mm Bullets

Dimensions:45.5x39.8x29.25mm

Weight (with battery wires and connector): 98g

Basically, from what all of this info tells me, it says don't put the Copperhead into a Losi SCTE!!!! You better use the Copperhead R...... and it has a cool looking little R on the speedo too. I think just the R on it makes it faster!!!! Gotta say that the Copperheads are some of the best looking esc's out there. Very pretty.

My experience especially with spektrum keep it at 100..Good example, if u have it at 150 your full throttle would be around mid range on the trigger. I helped a friend with his viper/spektrum combo and this is what i found.

I just picked up the Cooperhead 4500kv combo for Project SSC Slash (dont have an official name)

I just went and checked. my ESC does indeed have a little R to the right of where it says Copperhead.

good deal. i wish you luck. you can come back and enter once a day to increase your odds of winning as well.

If you don't win one of these 12, we have a raffle coming up in a few months with a bunch of vehicles. Could always buy a ticket for that when they come up for sale and try your luck then.

well i am glad to report that my vtx10r black edition worked perfect in my desc410 with the vst 4.5 550:D i raced this weekend in 110 degree weather and never had a problem super smooth and fast out running those pro4's down the straight:ha:

spider882009 08-21-2012 05:48 AM

Well this past weekend I just put a VTX10 w/ 8.5 thru one very mechanical test that alot of others quit on. I ran 157 laps over 3 rounds (2 Heats and 1 Amain) of oval racing this past weekend in a Mod SCT XXX-SCT. It came off the track in great shape!!! Motor came off @ 140 Degrees and ESC @ 98 Degrees!!!

Spider that sounds sick!!! What were the average laps per round, and how many feet is the oval? I'm asking this out of pure curiosity. Are you pretty much holding the throttle wide open, except for the turns?
