I have seen several threads here referencing profile #3, and that is fine, but be aware that some of the profiles add allot of timing. For example, #3 is 30 Deg AT and 20 Deg TST, combined with a stock VST motor timing of 30 Deg, you are running a total of 80 DEGREES OF TIMING. This setup, irregardless of gearing will be Because the
lower gearing lets you have more punch, wgearing.
I always thought that it was explained that your tst timing value would not be added into your total timing number. Thought it was just can timing and
Acceleration boost added together would equal total timing and top gear timing was not a factor. In this case total timing of 60. Just want to clear this up
for my own calculations also.
Thanks

Default viper esc

i just threw the viper esc in my b4.1 and the setup was a breeze, i love the programming unit. I am running my novak 13.5 for this week but next i will run a viper 8.5

larger offroad high bite track low end punch is prob best.

Any setups? for now I am running what the manual recommends

very very nice setup tho esc is sold..

Guy - for Long Island, you probably just want to start on Profile 2 - should be more than enough power and speed. But if you feel you need more you can add some boost.

Calo - not sure what you are looking for??? an actual amp draw figure?

Accel Boost will start to add timing at your lower RPM setting, and will have all A.B. timing added at your top RPM setting.

After that, TST timing will continue to add timing after the motor is at top RPM.

Since you are past the TOP rpm setting, it the VTX will already have timing from the Accel Boost setting in it when it starts adding the TST, thus ending up with adding both timing settings being applied.

17.5 racing is very, very dependent on track layout, grip, etc... with what gearing you can get away with. It is hard to provide optimum settings for everything. Going fast with 17.5 takes allot of tweeking

I've seem optimum gearing anywhere from 28/74 all the way up to 33/69.

That being said, start on the lower side of that gearing, and add start checking temps.

Refer back a few pages and I put up a post on how to approach gearing and timing settings for new setups, just to get you used to the philosophy that I use at least.

I find it strange that such an obvious troll as bscopes is not banned from the forum.

the funny thing is that he cries about having to spend $35 to fix his truck. well kid, maybe if you didn't spend all of daddy's money on all of your super cool tekin gear, you'd have money to fix the truck.

cant be to smart if hes running novak anyways musta forgot to collect a few paper routes to afford tekin for that..

i like my tekin stuff but for the price point there are just as good systems for alot less. one of the reasons im waiting for the copperhead to come out. hell my 4 year old hobbywing esc still works yet my old rx8 went up in smoke the minute it got plugged in.
