No matter what I seem to change the boost hits really hard.

If I back off the acceleration boost to like 10 or 15 what would I do to make the top end boost pull hard through the higher rpm ranges?

Im running 2wd 17.5 buggy outdoors.

I need the "SPEED and oomph" but MAN does the timing hit hard. I have adjusted the RPM range but it just hits soo hard it breaks the back end loose.

Any idea on what to adjust to get a nice smooth power output?

Also on the "speed" setting with the degree/1000 rpm what exactly does that affect?

Thanks

After reading you posts, my first question would be....are you running the optimum tires for the track conditions?? If you are not sure, ask some of the fast guys what they are running. Look at your overall set up as well. If that's not the problem, try this.

Sounds like you need to put the power down smoothly...honestly, the best way to do this is with a smooth trigger finger, especially in 2wd.

The ESC can make life easier. Try each one of these suggestions one at a time and go in small increments. Try one change, run some laps and reset it to where it was. Then do the same for the others. Check temps often.

1. Raise the PWM frequency ( check temps, higher values can raise temps)
2. Lower the throttle punch
3. Raise your Acceleration Timing
4. Lower your Slew rate. ( as mentioned before)

Try these and post back. Finding a the sweet spot and figuring out how everything works takes time, especially with the amount of adjustments the VTX10's offer. It's all worth it in the end.

Those are some good suggestions from Jamie, give those a try.

Perhaps try turning your slew rate down to 1*/1000rpm, that will greatly smooth out the top speed timing engagement.

PM replied. It should keep working fine for your race this weekend, the problem you're experiencing is uncured waterproofing glue (occasional issue on the first production run) but shouldn't affect performance or stability. Run it for your race and then send it in after at your convenience

Because it will void the warranty, that's why. The VTX10R is a 1/10 motor controller only.

Default Viper R/C enters the 550 motor game

Viper R/C Solutions enters the 550 motor game with the all new VST 4.5XL and 5.5XL 550 class motors. The VST-XL series coupled with the powerful VTX10R esc makes an optimum setup for your 4x4 short course.

The VST-XL series have been in testing and development stages for many months with top level drivers such as Billy Fischer. Billy's power systems have been both extremely powerful and reliable even under the toughest racing conditions at the Silverstate and Cactus Classic.

The first shipment is expected to arrive in mid-June, 2011. Please check major on line stores and your LHS for pre-order!!

I am the fast guy? lol Nah here on the local level it is me and 2-3 others fighting for top dog. We all run the same tires after some experimenting.

I got the viper to try instead of my Tekin for craps and giggles. My slew is 1*/1000 right not. I lowered my acceleration timing cause at about 1/4 trigger pull its a VERY abrupt "hit".

I will play with the punch and pwm.

I just want it to not "hit" like a darn 500cc 2 stroke dirt bike =)

I am not complaining, just wanting to get the most out of it.

Viper motor with duo 3 17.5 win last weekend =)

Question for Viper RC

In the bigger ESC industry ( Ebikes, Esooters, ECars) we use Regenerative braking... Why dont you guys stand out of the pack and offer such thing?

it would be awesome regen braking for burst accelaration out of corners (4wd) would be crazy!

Looking fo ryour feedback
