Just ordered my Viper 2050 1/8 motor...not sure if I'm going RX8 or Xerun 150A...or just wait until Viper releases their 1/8 esc.

Any suggestions for esc?

Runs too effin' hot man. 170F running half a pack is not exceptable. I had to ease on the brakes and throttle to get to 150F. Was like granny drivin' in loserville county. I had more fun driving a 1512 1400kv 4pole motor. Sensor board on the motor is toast as well. My son's 2 pole C50L 1800kv Hacker has more power/excelleration and runs way cooler. There was another Viper motor on the offroad track and that one also ran stupid hot.

Just like the LRP Vector 8 motors, these 1/8 Viper 3 slot 2 pole motors are no good for 1/8 vehicles. However they would be great motors in 2s and 3s Slashes with Turbo enabled on the esc's.

Hopefully improvements will be seen with new rotors.
+1 on 2 pole 3 slot motors sucking in e-scale. Tried a 1400 motor on 6S, ran stupid hot. Pulled it out and put the Tekin 4 pole T8 1400 back in and car is stupid fast.

See that is more like it. A decent size rotor in a 540 can motor.

I allready have a 4pole Aveox 1406 3000kv motor(5mm shaft) and it's plenty of fun on 2s. Now Viper has to offer the 5mm shaft too. Seems everybody is coming out with 4 pole 1/10 motors for a decent price.
It wasn't long ago that only Aveox and Plettenberg made 4 pole 1/10 motors for an arm and a leg.

I have one in my SC10 and love it. Easily the smoothest esc I have owned since brushed days. All of my ESC's will be getting replaced by these things.

Did a few test runs again with 0 degrees timing. Temps where much better.

Run #1 measured with Eagletree V4 150A.
Tekin RX8
0 timing
Stock brakes
4s hardcase Acepow
20T pinion
Ofna GTP 47 spur
Peak Amps 157.35A
Peak Watts 2069W
Continuous Amps 22.08A
Continuous Watts [email protected]
129F

Run #2 measured with Eagletree V4 150A.
Tekin RX8
0 timing
Stronger brakes
4s hardcase Acepow
23T pinion
Ofna GTP 47 spur
Peak Amps 162.21A
Peak Watts 2039W
Continuous Amps 27.67A
Continuous Watts [email protected]
142F

So it looks like I can go up another tooth with the pinion and still be good with temps.

Temps came down, which is a plus. But it is still a weak motor for it's size. I have been notified of a motor recall today. But I'll be holding off from sending it in. I know the motor has potential with the right rotor.

Is there any warranty coverage on the VTX10R when buying second-hand, assuming it was originally purchased in the last 365 days and the second owner had the original receipt?

You need the original invoice from the original owner in order to have warranty service.
