I bought the XL 4.5 today for my SC10 4x4. I went to put it in and it's to long to actually put into the chassis without notching it out, leaving the sensor wires hanging off the side. I know this really isn;t a huge deal, just notch out the chassis to let it fit but my question is why isn't it a standard 550 sized motor? I am running a borrowed tekin and I am not totally happy with it but it just seems weird that the motor would be that much longer.

Secong question is will a VTX10 handle it or will I have to go to the VTX10R for it. I know it's a 4.5t but it's a way lower KV rating than the 540 4.5t's. Is it just the amp draw it can't handle or will it be fine?

The "L" motor is still in the development stages - the "XL" will fit in the SC with a little work to notch out the chassis - the notch will not effect chassis strength.

The 10R is the best bet to use with a 550 motor, it's designed to have the extra power the motor will produce.

Thanks for the reply. I had thought about just putting in a 540 for now and I might do that knowing there might be a better motor coming out soon. And I will pick up the R version soon. Thanks again.

Sorry, just one more question. What size shaft is the "L" motor being planned around, 3mm or 5mm? I got some pinions when I got the motor so I want to make sure they'll work or I have to take them back as well.

Becarefull with that 10r in the 4x4 sc. Rig up a fan for the 10r. There have been issues with that setup. I have gone through 3 of them. Viper is coming out with a esc fan kit and bec stabilizer for it.

I have my ESC set at the stock 220 but I have set my motor at 180. That's still hot for a motor but shouldn't wreck it.

Thanks guys. So 170 seams to be the temp to try and stay below. Looking forward to putting more time on this system.
