No, they will be more inline with a 550 size motor.

The 5mm shaft R series 4 poles are going to be longer than the 3mm shaft versions. We are using the same length as the L 550's, which is shorter than the VST XL's and will not require any trimming to get the motor into the SC10 4wd.

That sounds good. I already have a pro4 on the way but I will probably just sell that and wait for a 550 4 pole then. Outdoor season is ending soon where I am anyways so I guess I can wait a little longer for those.

What do I want to gear this thing at? I have a 12 tooth on it right now.. but someone was telling me hat these are torquey motors... so have to compinsate with a 14/15ish?

I managed to finagle, grind, whittle, and sand my way in there!

It's a good system, I have been running it the last month without issues in my SCTe. I can't wait to get my hands on the R52, it's going to be a monster in the horse power department.

Nice, that is a very clean job!!! Thanks for the pictures also!

I run a 14T on the 5.5 and it gets up and moves nicely and very smooth. Don't run any boost/timing on the 550's. They come stock from the factory with 30 degrees on the can. If you need more speed gear up.

A friend/regional viper driver gave me these settings to start with...

Brake strength - 80%
Brake PWM freq - 8000HZ
Brake curve - linear
Neutral drag brake - 10%
Throttle PWM freq - 9600Hz
Throttle punch - 75% - 90% depending on traction
Throttle curve - -1Expo
Deadband - middle
Stock Blinky mode
Motor temp cuttoff - Disabled
ESC protection - 200 degrees
Holeshot mode - off

Anyone think of anything else?

No, it's a 1/10th scale system, it's benchmarked in the SCTe so unless you are rolling a 810, I'm going to say no.

Either, 4.5 or 5.5... Just gearing would be different.
