Sorry if I didn't include many other Past Champs that are still into Racing but these are just a few that come to mind!
You forgot the most important past champ:
Fred Medel

It's doable or it used to be doable. I paid my own way in 2007 to race the GT victory class. I did get permission from Fred and Tamiya Japan first though. It was just as much fun as the first time.

That's a tricky one Mark. The year that Ling got to do that was an odd year. I was able to use logic and persuade Tamiya Japan into letting that happen. The next year they said no way. No Ling...they didn't get upset about you venturing to the red light district unescorted Seriously though...The year that Ling went it aligned to whatever promotional activities they were doing. In subsequent years those activities were tweaked so my requests to let any past champ pay their own way fell short with their current objectives.
I will try and see what we can do in 2012. Maybe those objectives will align again

Yeah...I checked the rules. Fred Medel can't race in the event. He's banned. He'll stick to racing his F104 Pro at TQ Raceway for his racing and heroine fix.

It is worth asking. I spoke to Keith Yu about it at IIC - we were both interested. That is until you decided to share your 'wrinkles'. That last line didnt sound right. It is 1AM here, time to shut it down.

Oh man, Rod and me aren't going to live down that video for a while!
Careful Mark those "Orl" wounds haven't healed yet, but be that as it may I'd like to say a prayer from the book of Matthew, Mark, Luke and.....DUCK!..... incoming motor! BOOOM! (quote from Blazing Saddles!)

Yeah, and we missed you the last round. Hope you make the 21st race with those of us running Ultimate F1 at TQ on Saturday and Tamiya Regional on Sunday. Going to be a busy weekend.

I think Ollie and I are still gunning to be the first 50+ to go to Japan from the US.... for the first time.

Wow! This-is-awesome. Time to shake off the rust and level up

[wishful thinking] I know that a bunch of past chumps are older and doing okay financially. If what FWM says about past champs paying their way to Japan is probable, wouldn't it be sweet to organize a short bus load of us to make the trip and do some team stomping? [/wishful thinking]
